The speed test rates the speed number too, a healthy card does about 7,000 to 10,000 reads a second, and both ratings sit side by side as Great, Good, OK or Slow.
While it runs you see the speed right now, the reads done and any failed reads, with Cancel next to it, and it stops the moment the card fails instead of running to the end.
Read card reads the chip and DNA ID through the card's normal FTDI or CH347 driver, like other DNA ID tools. WinUSB only goes on by itself when that driver can't read it.

Download MewTools-Setup-1.0.8.exe below and run it. SmartScreen might warn you the first time, so click More info, then Run anyway.
