MiniDoom Version 1

This release replaces the previous Version 1 binary with a fresh Windows x64 build from the current main branch (c139dc1).

Highlights

  • Complete playable DOOM and DOOM II game flow with single-player and multiplayer support
  • Classic software renderer and hardware-accelerated OpenGL renderer
  • Fixed OpenGL moving-sector coverage for floors, ceilings, doors, platforms, stairs, donuts, and crushers, including DOOM II MAP06
  • Faster classic rendering through validated native column, span, palette-expansion, and low-resolution presentation paths
  • OpenGL dynamic lighting, sprites, spectre fuzz, animated textures, transparent walls, moving sectors, and scrolling walls
  • Optional HDWAD sidecar support for high-resolution OpenGL assets
  • Windowed and fullscreen modes, VSync controls, frame limiter, and uncapped rendering
  • Savegames separated per IWAD
  • Hardened multiplayer transport with tested movement, chat relay, disconnect/reconnect, slot reuse, WAD mismatch, server-full, and deathmatch flows
  • Automated regression coverage for renderer switching, sprites, frame pacing, software rasterization, OpenGL movers, HDWAD, smoke startup, and multiplayer

Installation

  1. Download and extract MiniDoom-Version1-Windows-x64.zip.
  2. Provide your own compatible DOOM IWAD; commercial game data is not included.
  3. Start the classic renderer with MiniDoom.exe -iwad "C:\path\to\DOOM2.WAD".
  4. Add -opengl to use the OpenGL renderer. Keep MiniDoomGL.dll next to MiniDoom.exe.
