@n1k0m0 n1k0m0 released this 03 Oct 13:00

MiniDoom 2.0.5 (Windows x64)

This release rebuilds MiniDoom with MiniLang Compiler 1.2.16. It renames a
local BSP sight-tracing variable because div became a compiler keyword. The
change does not alter the sight-tracing logic.

The Windows EXE and native OpenGL DLL were rebuilt from this source. The EXE
includes the application icon. An OpenGL E1M1 startup and FPS smoke test passed
with the DOOM shareware IWAD.

The archive contains the engine, license, and documentation. Supply your own
DOOM or DOOM II IWAD. The Linux x64 package remains available from v2.0.4.

Validation

The extracted Windows archive passed an OpenGL E1M1 startup/FPS smoke test with the DOOM shareware IWAD.

MiniDoom 2.0.4

Fixes monsters, projectiles and other spatial sound effects becoming much too
quiet when the engine updates their position.

Fixed

  • Apply the same volume conversion when starting and updating a sound. At slider
level 8, the old update path reduced the measured PCM level by about 18.6 dB.
  • Scale map 8's minimum sound level relative to the effects volume. Distance no
longer increases the selected level or bypasses mute.
  • Keep original sound samples, music playback and saved volume preferences.

Validation and documentation

  • Added a native regression fixture that compares actual stereo PCM samples,
all 16 volume settings, five stereo positions, spatial updates, active-channel
mute and distance attenuation in maps 1 and 8.
  • Windows: 756 cases passed, including a silent WinMM device submission, plus all
67 available DOOM effects. All 107 DOOM II effects were also checked.
  • Linux: 755 cases and all 107 DOOM II effects passed.
  • Built both platforms with MiniLang Compiler 1.2.6. Classic and OpenGL startup
checks passed on Windows and Linux; both Linux renderers completed 200 frames
with SDL effects and FluidSynth initialized.
  • Includes the MiniDoc source/API documentation added since 2.0.3.

MiniDoom Version 2.0.3

@n1k0m0 n1k0m0 released this 03 Sep 11:48

MiniDoom 2.0.3

This maintenance release restores clean builds with the current MiniLang
Compiler and refreshes the project presentation.

Fixed

  • Fixed the Windows Sleep ABI conflict introduced by MiniLang Compiler 1.2.3.
MiniDoom now uses the platform-neutral std.time.sleep API instead of
redeclaring the Win32 symbol with an incompatible signature.
  • Verified fresh Windows x64 and Linux x64 builds with MiniLang Compiler 1.2.3.
  • Verified the Windows Classic/OpenGL render paths and a native Linux launch.

Documentation

  • Added current project badges to the README.

Packages

  • MiniDoom-v2.0.3-windows-x64.zip
  • MiniDoom-v2.0.3-linux-x64.tar.gz

The Linux package includes FluidSynth, libinstpatch, the MuseScore General
Lite SoundFont, and complete third-party license notices. DOOM IWAD files are
not included.

@n1k0m0 n1k0m0 released this 26 Aug 21:21

MiniDoom 2.0.2

This patch improves Windows music control and long-range OpenGL rendering.

Fixed

  • Restored effective Windows music-volume control on MIDI devices that reject
WinMM's midiOutSetVolume by applying the master gain to sequenced MIDI note
    velocities and channel-volume events.
  • Removed the unnecessary full-volume intermediate update when changing the
    music slider.
  • Increased the shared OpenGL world view distance from 4096 to 12288 map units.
The projection, native sprite batcher, and compatibility sprite fallback now
use the same limit, covering DOOM II MAP32's long sightlines.
  • Added a regression test that validates the configured range against MAP32's
actual player start and vertex geometry.

Packages

  • MiniDoom-v2.0.2-windows-x64.zip
  • MiniDoom-v2.0.2-linux-x64.tar.gz

The Linux package includes FluidSynth, libinstpatch, the MuseScore General
Lite SoundFont, and complete third-party license notices. DOOM IWAD files are
not included.

@n1k0m0 n1k0m0 released this 26 Aug 15:24

MiniDoom 2.0.1

This patch release fixes the Linux audio stack while keeping the Windows and
Linux builds in sync.

Fixed

  • Restored reliable Linux sound effects by correcting the GlobalAlloc ABI
bridge and initializing SDL audio before opening the mixer.
  • Replaced the limited Linux fallback synthesizer with dynamically loaded
FluidSynth and a bundled MuseScore General Lite SoundFont.
  • Corrected duplicated music-volume scaling and legacy Doom SFX-volume
    normalization.
  • Increased the Linux music buffer and tuned FluidSynth to prevent intermittent
    crackling without changing game timing.

Packages

  • MiniDoom-v2.0.1-windows-x64.zip
  • MiniDoom-v2.0.1-linux-x64.tar.gz

The Linux package contains FluidSynth, its required libinstpatch runtime, the
MuseScore General Lite SoundFont, and their complete license notices. DOOM IWAD
files are not included; use a legally obtained DOOM.WAD or DOOM2.WAD.
