OmniReader 0.1.1 improves Linux playback reliability and ships under the BSD-2-Clause license.

Changes

  • Isolated audio playback in ffplay or mpv to prevent native multimedia crashes when PipeWire is unavailable.
  • Fixed a PySide6 playback-position signal mismatch and playback-transition crashes when switching voices or backends.
  • Added repository run/test scripts, a screenshot of the running app, and clearer installation and contribution guidance.
  • Updated package metadata and release checks for this version.

Install

Requires Linux and Python 3.10 or newer. Download the wheel below and run python -m pip install ./omnireader-0.1.1-py3-none-any.whl, or install from the source archive. Install ffplay (from ffmpeg) or mpv for audio playback. This is a Python package, not a standalone desktop installer.

See the README for setup and supported document formats. The prior v0.1.0 release remains under its original MIT terms.
