Muesli 0.8.1 is a focused reliability update for meetings, microphone capture, dictation, and Computer Use.
More reliable meetings and audio
- Scheduled and recurring meetings start reliably: Calendar providers can reuse event identifiers across recurring meetings. Muesli now distinguishes individual occurrences so legitimate recordings are no longer rejected with “Meeting failed to start.”
- Stronger microphone capture: Muesli avoids competing unnecessarily with conferencing apps for the default microphone and can recover when the active input changes during a meeting, including transitions to devices such as AirPods.
- Separate meeting microphone selection: Meetings can use their own preferred microphone without changing Dictation, macOS, or the conferencing app.
- Quieter automatic meeting starts: Meetings started from detection, calendar notifications, or automatic recording now begin in the background without pulling focus into Notes. Manually started meetings continue to open Notes.
Dictation and Computer Use reliability
- Fixed a dictation-related crash caused when another app exposed invalid Accessibility geometry.
- Computer Use now shares Dictation’s route-aware microphone lifecycle, releases the microphone cleanly, and cannot compete with an active Dictation session.
Stability on affected M1 Macs
- M1-family Macs running macOS 15.1 now avoid the Core ML GPU path implicated in a diarization model-loading crash.
- Model preloading now coordinates concurrent requests and handles cancellation and timeouts more predictably.
Also improved
- Manual meeting notes now provide first-class context for generated titles, decisions, action items, risks, and summaries.
- Added GPT-5.6 Sol, Terra, and Luna across supported cloud-model selectors. GPT-5.6 Terra is the default for new or unset ChatGPT dictation-cleanup selections, while GPT-5.4 Mini remains available as the faster option.
Privacy and release quality
- Expanded meeting and model-loading diagnostics use categorical, privacy-preserving signals. They do not include audio, transcripts, meeting titles, file paths, hardware identifiers, or raw error descriptions.
- The incremental Sparkle update was validated through MuesliPreprod with existing app data preserved.
Muesli 0.8.1 requires Apple silicon and macOS 14.2 or later. The release is signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and stapled.
