Codex Pet & Usage Companion v0.8.1 — Signed Automatic Updates
What's new
- Added signed update checks shortly after launch and every six hours, with an opt-out setting and no telemetry.
- Added manual update checks in Settings and the tray menu.
- Added an in-app release summary, download progress, and user-confirmed automatic installation.
- Added cryptographic signature verification before an update can be installed.
- Added duplicate-safe Windows notifications and bilingual update states.
Important for existing users
Users on v0.8.0 or earlier need to install v0.8.1 manually once. Starting with v0.8.1, future signed releases can be downloaded and installed from inside the app.
The installer does not yet carry a commercial Windows Authenticode certificate, so Windows SmartScreen may show a warning on first install. In-app update packages are separately signed and verified by the application.
Verification
- 24 frontend tests passed.
- 8 regular Rust tests passed; 2 environment-dependent integration tests remain opt-in.
- TypeScript check, production web build, Rust formatting, compilation, and tests passed.
- English and Simplified Chinese layouts were checked at the native 380×560 window size.
- Signed Windows x64 NSIS installer and updater manifest were generated successfully.
