ItemWatch v2.2.2
2.2.2
Fixed
- The sound picker in the item-edit popup (left-click a tracked item) was running off the bottom of the window - it now scrolls properly, and is future-proofed against overflowing again as more presets get added.
- The "Horde Legends" and "Alliance Champions" section labels were getting their first letter clipped off.
Improved
- Added divider lines between sound categories, so they're easier to scan at a glance.
2.2.1 What's New!!
New: Recipe Shopping List
- Click "Add to Shopping List" on any recipe in the Professions Recipes tab to auto-populate a shopping list with everything it needs.
- Making more than one? Set the quantity right in the Shopping List window ("Crafting: __ x this recipe") and every reagent's needed amount updates live - no need to re-open the recipe.
- Required reagents show live progress toward the amount needed, and count your bank, reagent bank, and warband bank in addition to bags - so it won't nag you to buy something you've already got stashed away.
- Optional/finishing reagents (missives, embellishments) show as a plain reminder instead of guessing which one you want.
- Non-purchasable required reagents (Sparks, Enchanted Crests, Blood of Sargeras, etc.) are flagged "[vendor/earned only]" instead of silently vanishing from the list.
- Clicking "Add to Shopping List" while one's already open asks before replacing it, so an accidental click won't wipe your progress.
- The Shopping List window is movable, resizable, and lockable, and persists across logout/reload if you leave it open.
- New "What's New" popup shows a quick highlight reel after each update (and doubles as an intro if you're new to ItemWatch) - /iw whatsnew brings it back any time.
- 10 new fun sound presets: Illidan, Thrall, Sylvanas, Baine, Monte Gazlowe, Genn Greymane, Tyrande, Magni, Gelbin, plus a second Orc Peon line.
- New "Shopping List" page in the in-game settings explaining how it all works.
- The main Item Box is unchanged and still bags + reagent bag only, by design.
ItemWatch v2.2.0
ItemWatch
A World of Warcraft addon for tracking specific item counts — a movable, resizable box you drag items into, with goals, per-item sounds, and a minimap button. Now also builds a shopping list straight from any crafting recipe.
Built for farming, collecting, or any situation where you need to keep an eye on an exact item count without repeatedly opening your bags.
Features
- Item Box — a movable, resizable container for everything you're tracking. Drag items from your bags straight onto it, right-click an icon inside to remove it.
- Recipe Shopping List — click "Add to Shopping List" on any recipe in the Professions Recipes tab, and ItemWatch reads its full reagent list and builds a shopping list for you automatically. Required reagents track live progress (counting bank, reagent bank, and warband bank, not just bags), optional/finishing reagents show as a plain reminder, and reagents you can't buy on the Auction House are flagged "[vendor/earned only]" instead of silently vanishing. The window is movable, resizable, lockable, and persists across logout/reload.
- Quick-Add popup — track items you don't have yet by pasting a Wowhead link, typing an item ID, or shift-clicking an item straight into the field. Set a goal and sound in one step.
- Per-item edit popup — left-click any tracked icon to change its goal or pick its own custom "goal reached" sound (or mute it).
- Per-item ding sounds — no more one generic sound for everything; give each tracked item its own, so you know what just hit its goal without looking. Includes a few fun presets alongside the standard ones - Commander Ulthok, Cat Meow, Aquatic Form Burp, and a small Brann Bronzebeard easter egg section.
- Shift-click to link, Ctrl-click to preview — tracked icons behave like real item icons for chat links and equippable-gear previews.
- Character-specific tracking — each character keeps its own list. The main Item Box is deliberately bags + reagent bag only, real-time, so counts are always exactly accurate (no bank/warband padding the number). The Shopping List is the one place that does check your bank and warband, since it's answering a different question - "do I still need to go buy this."
- Blizzard Edit Mode support for the box.
- Combat / pet battle visibility toggles — hide the box automatically if you'd rather it stay out of the way. Tracking keeps running in the background regardless.
- Minimap button — left-click to show/hide the box, right-click for settings. Built on LibDataBroker + LibDBIcon, so it's automatically compatible with minimap button "tray" addons (ElvUI's built-in one, Dominos, Bartender4, MBB, SexyMap, etc.).
- In-game documentation — the settings panel has expandable sub-pages covering how to use ItemWatch, the Recipe Shopping List, practical usage ideas (like Auction House shopping lists built from the main box), and contact/support info.
- All the original
/iwslash commands still work, unchanged — the box and popups are additional ways in, not replacements. - Lightweight — event-driven, no polling.
Installation
Recommended: install via CurseForge.
Manual install:
- Download the latest release, or clone this repo.
- Copy the
ItemWatchfolder (including theLibssubfolder) into your WoW AddOns directory:World of Warcraft/_retail_/Interface/AddOns/ - Restart WoW or
/reload.
Usage
The easy way:
- Drag an item from your bags onto the box to start tracking it.
- Left-click the icon inside the box to set a goal and pick a sound.
- Right-click the icon to stop tracking it.
For items you don't have yet:
- Click the "+" on the box (or right-click empty space inside it).
- Paste a Wowhead link, type the item ID, or shift-click an item to fill the field automatically.
- Set a goal and sound preference, click Track.
Building a shopping list from a recipe:
- Open any profession's Recipes tab and select a recipe.
- Click "Add to Shopping List."
- Required reagents show live have/needed progress (bank + reagent bank
- warband bank included), optional reagents show as a reminder, and anything you can't buy is flagged "[vendor/earned only]."
- The window sticks around - move it, resize it, lock it, or just leave it open. It'll still be there if you log out mid-farm.
Commands
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| /iw add | Start tracking an item |
| /iw remove | Stop tracking an item |
| /iw list | List everything currently tracked |
| /iw clear | Remove all tracked items (asks to confirm) |
| /iw lock | Lock the box in place |
| /iw unlock | Unlock the box so you can move/resize it |
| /iw goal | Set a target amount for an item |
| /iw goal clear | Remove the goal for an item |
| /iw sound on|off | Toggle the goal-reached sound for an item |
| /iw testsound | Preview the default goal sound |
| /iw addrecipe | Add the currently-open recipe to the Shopping List |
| /iw options | Open the settings panel |
Ctrl+Shift+Click an item in your bags also adds it directly, no item ID needed (default Blizzard bag UI only).
Settings
Find ItemWatch's settings under Options > AddOns > ItemWatch in-game, or
type /iw options, or right-click the minimap button. From there you can
set per-item sounds, combat/pet-battle visibility toggles, and show/hide
the minimap button.
The settings panel also has an expandable "+" with sub-pages: Helpful Information (how everything works), Shopping List (how the recipe-based shopping list works), Practical Uses (real workflows like building an Auction House list from the main box), Contact/Support, and About.
Notes
- Tracked items are saved per-character, so each character keeps their own independent list.
- The addon bundles LibStub, CallbackHandler-1.0, LibDataBroker-1.1, and
LibDBIcon-1.0 in the
Libsfolder for the minimap button - these are widely-used shared libraries, not custom code. - Manual install / cloning: make sure the
Libsfolder (and its four subfolders) comes along withItemWatch.luaandItemWatch.tocinto your AddOns folder. If you use GitHub's green "Code" button and download the ZIP, this happens automatically. If you're grabbing files one at a time, don't skipLibs- without it, the minimap button won't appear (the rest of the addon still works fine, it just quietly skips that one feature). - The Ctrl+Shift+Click add-from-bags shortcut only works with Blizzard's
default bag UI. If you use a bag-replacement addon (Baganator,
ArkInventory, Bagnon, etc.), use
/iw add <itemID>or the Quick-Add popup instead.

ItemWatch v2.1.4
ItemWatch v2.1.4
Ever farmed for a mount, achievement, or crafting mats and needed to track
an exact item count without constantly popping open your bags? ItemWatch
gives you a tidy, movable box that tracks any items you choose — drag them
in, set a goal, and get a ding the moment you hit it.
A Couple of Realtime Examples
- Grinding for the Giant Dinosaur bones to get the Spectral Porcupette
(999 bones) or the Reins of the Bone-White Primal Raptor (9,999 bones)?
That's a lot of 'defeat 20 dinos, stop, check bags, lather-rinse-repeat.' - Fishing for Strange Goop and don't have any yet? Click the "+" on the
box, paste the Wowhead link, set a goal of 1, and keep fishing until
ItemWatch tells you it's in the bag. - Whether it's ONE item or 9,999 items, ItemWatch has got you, fam!
Features
- Drag-and-drop tracking onto the box, or use /iw commands — either way
works, and drag-and-drop isn't required - Quick-Add popup for items you don't have yet — paste a Wowhead link,
type an item ID, or shift-click an item to fill it automatically - Per-item goals with their own custom sound (or silence), including a
few fun presets — Commander Ulthok, Cat Meow, Aquatic Form Burp, and a
small Brann Bronzebeard easter egg section - Shift-click a tracked icon to link it in chat, Ctrl-click to preview
equippable gear, same as your bags - Character-specific, real-time bags-only tracking — no bank or warbank,
so the number you see is always exactly accurate - Movable, resizable, lockable box with Blizzard Edit Mode support
- Combat / pet battle / minimap button visibility toggles
- Minimap button, fully compatible with tray addons (ElvUI, Dominos,
Bartender4, MBB, SexyMap, etc.) - In-game documentation under the settings panel's expandable "+" —
Helpful Information, Practical Uses, Contact/Support, and About - Escape closes any ItemWatch popup in one press
- Shows the Silver/Gold reagent quality badge on tracked crafting
materials, matching what you see elsewhere in WoW's UI - Lightweight — event-driven, no unnecessary polling

Changelog
v2.1.4
- Updated: Interface version bumped for patch 12.1.0 (Curse of Ula'tek)
- Fixed: a rare false "goal reached" ding could fire during zone
transitions (hearthing, portals, loading screens) if bag data
happened to misread briefly at that moment - a single low reading is
no longer enough to reset an already-earned goal, it now needs to see
it twice in a row before treating it as real
v2.1.3
- Fixed: goals already met in a previous session could replay their
"goal reached" ding on login - the very first bag check on login could
read stale data and incorrectly reset an already-earned goal, causing
it to re-trigger once real bag data loaded - Fixed: saving an item's edit popup could play a false "goal reached"
ding if the goal you set was already satisfied - editing settings no
longer triggers a sound; only a genuinely new completion during actual
gameplay does - Swapped: "Brann - Fantastic!" retired (the sound file stopped working
on Blizzard's end) for a new line, "Brann - Time to go all out!"
v2.1.2
- New: Lock/unlock toggle button on the box's title bar, next to the
"+" - shows the current lock state at a glance and stays in sync with
/iw lock and /iw unlock either way you toggle it.
v2.1.1
- New: Tracked crafting reagents now show their Silver/Gold quality
badge on the icon in the box, matching what you already see on them
elsewhere in WoW's UI (bags, crafting window). Only shows on items
that actually have a reagent quality - most tracked items won't.
v2.1.0
- New: Sound presets added - Commander Ulthok, Cat Meow, Aquatic Form
Burp, and a Brann Bronzebeard easter egg section - New: In-game documentation pages under the settings panel's expandable
"+" - Helpful Information, Practical Uses, Contact/Support, and About - Fixed: options panel now properly scrolls, so every setting is
reachable regardless of list length - Fixed: large goal numbers (e.g. 9999) no longer get visually cut off
on tracked item icons - progress now shows on hover in the tooltip
instead, which also now clearly labels itself "ItemWatch" - Fixed: a per-item sound choice could fail to stick after reopening
that item's edit popup - now saves and reloads correctly - Fixed: two sound presets were linked to an outdated playback function
and played nothing - now use the correct current API - Improved: clearer wording throughout, more consistent color scheme,
better spacing across every popup and panel
v2.0.0
- New: Item Box — a movable, resizable container for all tracked items,
replacing the old scattered-frames layout - New: Drag-and-drop tracking, Quick-Add popup, and per-item edit popup
- New: Per-item custom "goal reached" sounds, including a mute option
- New: Shift-click to link, Ctrl-click to preview equippable gear
- New: Blizzard Edit Mode support, combat/pet battle auto-hide toggles
- New: Minimap button with tray-addon compatibility
- New: Escape key closes ItemWatch popups in one press
- All existing /iw commands remain fully functional and unchanged
