The window stays awake.

What changed

  • No more "not responding". Every command that talks to git, the disk or the network now runs off the window's own thread. The auto-fetch every five minutes, a git status on a folder OneDrive is still syncing, a search or the environment scan at launch used to hold the whole window until they answered — that was the freeze that hit mid-work. git also never waits on a credential prompt nobody can see.
  • The first terminal paints once. The first shell of a launch was measured with a stand-in font and reflowed when the real one arrived: a doubled, garbled prompt, and a Claude Code bar drawn twice at the bottom. The shell now starts once the final font is in and the pane has settled.
  • Working, visibly. While a shell or Claude Code is working, its row in the sidebar shows a small pixel grid coming alive (it replaces the grip — you can still drag the row), and the pane's header shows the grid with a label and the elapsed time. Quiet rows keep the grid dim: grey before the shell starts, green while it is up.
  • Paste pictures into Claude Code. Ctrl+V with an image on the clipboard now reaches the process, which reads the clipboard itself — the same as in Windows Terminal.
  • Claude Code follows your theme. On a light terminal its dark theme drew what you typed as a black bar. Before it starts, Zpace sets Claude Code's theme (in ~/.claude/settings.json, keeping a colorblind or ANSI variant you chose) to the terminal's side, so your messages sit on a light grey.
