There is no nixpkgs maintainer for this package (there never was...). Upstream hasn't seen any activity for the last 4 years. Came across this while trying to upgrade pcre to pcre2, which isn't possible for this package.

LGTM. Looks like this is only used by a script in the DejaVu fonts repository. Might be a good idea to open an issue upstream, as Debian and others have already removed the old PCRE entirely, but given the level of maintenance I don’t expect this will get fixed, and there’s no Nixpkgs maintainer to take responsibility for the update anyway.

Will merge in a day or so in the absence of objections.
