dotnix is a reproducible Home Manager configuration for personal desktop tools on Linux and macOS. The flake pins Nixpkgs and Home Manager 26.05, selects the target from the host platform, and imports one module per application.

Quick Reference

The first switch can be run directly with the platform-specific flake output:

# Linux
nix run .#home-manager -- switch --flake .#$(nix eval --raw .#username)-x86_64-linux

# Apple Silicon macOS
nix run .#home-manager -- switch --flake .#$(nix eval --raw .#username)-aarch64-darwin

# Intel macOS
nix run .#home-manager -- switch --flake .#$(nix eval --raw .#username)-x86_64-darwin

After just is available, just switch applies the current configuration. just build evaluates the activation package without changing the machine, while just test runs the Python activation tests. See Getting Started and Operations for setup and routine workflows.

The managed package set includes terminal tools, editors, development tools, browsers, AI agents, screens, network utilities, and platform-specific desktop applications. macOS app bundles are copied into ~/Applications/Home Manager Apps; bundles containing system extensions are placed in /Applications so macOS can activate them.
