The apps/ tree is the package inventory: each directory is imported automatically by home.nix and contributes packages, configuration, launch agents, or activation steps.
Packages fall into three groups:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Cross-platform | Git, GitHub and GitLab CLIs, Docker client, asdf, Python, Ruby, pnpm, just, Kitty, Zellij, Yazi, zoxide, Cursor, IntelliJ IDEA, AI agents, and OBS. |
| macOS-specific | ChatGPT, Colima, CocoaPods, Chrome, macshot, JetBrains Air, Pulsar, Tailscale app, Albert, Maccy, Scroll Reverser, Cida, and DigUp. |
| Linux-specific | CopyQ and the Linux Tailscale CLI/daemon package. |
Platform filtering uses Nix package availability and pkgs.stdenv.isDarwin where behavior differs. Tailscale uses tailscale-gui plus a high-priority wrapper that executes the CLI from inside the macOS app bundle; Linux receives pkgs.tailscale.
AI-agent packages are collected in flake.nix and passed to apps/llm-agents. Imperative user extensions, such as Pi extensions, are installed by activation because they are writable machine state rather than Nix store packages.
