Vibeshine 1.18.4-stable.4

These release notes cover the stable 1.18.4 releases, from the original stable release through this update.

1.18.4

Notice: Vibeshine may trigger false-positive antivirus alerts. Details and workarounds are documented here: #59

Fixes

  • Restored exact virtual-display activation on ordinary Windows display topologies, preserving driver-created displays and encoder capabilities when direct activation is unavailable.
  • Kept the virtual-display topology active while HDR preparation retries, then fell back to SDR without bouncing the physical desktop.
  • Applied explicit HDR display profiles to the physical display when a requested virtual display falls back after setup failure.
  • Kept extended virtual displays out of clone groups so Windows accepts exact-target activation.

1.18.4-stable.2

Changes

  • Made several improvements to the v2 web interface.

  • Optimized CI/CD so updates can be published faster.

Fixes

  • Fixed CI/CD incorrectly retaining the beta version for a stable release, which could cause false update notifications.

1.18.4-stable.3

Fixes

  • Fixed unnecessary work on the v2 display-helper fast path and switching between helper engines.

  • Fixed virtual-display activation waiting on unstable monitor identity, recovery-state cleanup making the host unreachable, and stale portrait pointer rotation after restore.

  • Fixed Steam audio device ownership and restoration across app resumes and interrupted endpoint visibility changes.

  • Fixed Lossless Scaling launcher selection so a game path cannot be launched as the scaling tool.

  • Defaulted AMD encoding to the supported FFmpeg AMF path while keeping native AMF as an explicit experimental option.

1.18.4-stable.4

Fixes

  • Fixed incomplete physical-monitor restoration after virtual-display sessions, keeping missing monitors pending and preserving the last verified layout when recovery fails.

  • Fixed headless startup failing to discover usable encoder capabilities before an interactive desktop is available.

  • Fixed virtual capture selecting the wrong monitor when multiple virtual displays change enumeration order.

  • Restored global virtual-display inheritance for legacy app profiles while preserving explicit per-app display choices.

  • Fixed scaling-only Lossless Scaling profiles being ignored for generic Playnite launches.

  • Fixed large troubleshooting log exports blocking the Web UI or timing out.

  • Restored the legacy Web UI's ability to retrieve current GitHub release details.

  • Added an explicit opt-in for configured RTSS limiter modes on virtual displays while retaining the default Reflex behavior.

  • Fixed command-editor labels, removal-button accessibility, and empty-state clarity in the v2 Web UI.

  • Reduced Windows trust prompts during signed virtual-display driver upgrades and removed obsolete self-signed trust when it is no longer needed.

  • Removed the unused ViGEmBus force-uninstaller to avoid leaving a manually installed driver partially removed if the script is run.

  • Fixed out-of-tree builds producing an incorrect 0.0.0 version and TrueHDR runtime staging deleting existing build outputs.

These fixes were backported from 1.19.0-beta.1 and 1.19.0-beta.2, published August 20 and August 21, respectively, after at least one week in beta.
