@NotLooky NotLooky released this 20 Oct 00:21

BannerlordVR v0.2.6-alpha.2

For Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord v1.4.8 stable and v1.5.5 (Steam build ), Windows x64. Requires Bannerlord.Harmony and SteamVR or VDXR as the active OpenXR runtime. Other game versions are unverified.

Changes

  • DLSS is shipped with the mod .DLSS preset selection, resolution readout,
  • Full hand and equipment calibration with saved pose profiles in VR menu.
  • Optional toggle battle grips.
  • fixed noble bow string, camel camera/rider alignment, and camera height after mount falls.
  • Practice-arena hands and weapons no longer fade away.
  • Menu auto-recenter now has angle limit, and can be disabled.
  • Large modded mounts camera fix.
  • Fov cropping( Will improve performance a lot) , not supported on MetaXR
  • Meta/oculus XR is supported now.
  • Cheekyfoveateddlss(0.5.5) is now supported , needs seperate install from cheeky github(Thanks to cheeky for this great tool)
  • RCAS new sharpening tool , looks cleaner than the old CAS , but softer .

Best new tips for performance

-(this only work with nvidia card) Install cheekyfoveateddlss(0.5.5 standalone) from their github, then paste the CheekyFoveatedDLSS folder only into the game's \bin\Win64_Shipping_Client, don't add anything else from the folder. this will enable cheekydlss , this alone should give you a good boost to performance when using dlss in game. for me it was about 12fps .

-The other tip is , FOV cropping , the mod now ships with fov croping sits at 1.0 , lower it , until the edges bothers you , for quest 3 best was (H=0.83, V=0.87) this gave me about another 10fps

-Enable VRS wide , this will give you maybe 2 to 4 fps with no visual loss , only at the very edges of the lens.

Optimized = 25 fps increase for me ,

Installation

Close the game. Extract BannerlordVR-0.2.6-alpha.2.zip into the game folder. Enable Bannerlord VR below Harmony. Keep both mod DLLs, bundled DLSS DLL, NVIDIA license, and BannerlordVR.default.cfg from this package together.

Existing personal settings in Documents/Mount and Blade II Bannerlord/Configs/BannerlordVR.cfg override the shipped defaults; back up and rename that file to try a clean configuration.

NVIDIA DLSS 310.9.1.0 is bundled under its separate NVIDIA license. At module startup, an older game bin/Win64_Shipping_Client/nvngx_dlss.dll is upgraded atomically; the first original is saved as nvngx_dlss.dll.bannerlordvr-original.bak. Equal/newer versions are kept. Restart Bannerlord once if the old DLSS was already loaded. The managed log reports upgrades, restart requirements, or failures (for example a read-only game bin). No Cheeky Foveated DLSS plugin is bundled.

Known limitations

  • Alpha quality: glitches, unfinished interactions, performance variation, and crashes are possible.
  • AMD graphics cards are not fully supported. Single-player only.

BannerlordVR v0.1.0 Alpha

@NotLooky NotLooky released this 19 Sep 23:21
96f53a4

!!!!!Broken Build!!!!!

Requires Bannerlord v1.4.8 (Steam version tested) — check yours before reporting anything.

This is a very early build. Expect glitches, jank and crashes.

Install

  1. Download and install Harmony and make sure it is enabled in the launcher.
  2. Extract the zip into your Bannerlord folder, so you end up with
    Mount & Blade II Bannerlord\Modules\BannerlordVR\bin\Win64_Shipping_Client\.
That bin goes inside the module folder, not the game's own bin.
  3. Start Virtual Desktop Streamer or SteamVR first and confirm it is the active OpenXR runtime.
  4. Launch Bannerlord and enable Bannerlord VR in the launcher, below Harmony.

A greyed-out checkbox in the launcher means Harmony is missing or not enabled.

No config file is included — the built-in defaults are the tested configuration.

Features

  • Full 6DoF head movement
  • Native stereo rendering — both eyes rendered by the game engine
  • AFR (Alternate Frame Rendering) for performance
  • Depth reprojection — experimental, smooth and light cost, but it has a mirrored duplicate on near edges
  • Head-based aiming
  • Motion controllers as an Xbox gamepad, so every existing gamepad binding and on-screen prompt works
  • DLSS support — override it with the latest DLSS version for best clarity
  • In-VR settings panel on the End key: render mode, world scale, resolution scale, sharpening
  • OpenXR

Controls

Your head is the camera. Your controllers act as an Xbox gamepad. Set Attack and Block by movement in the game's options — attack direction follows the left stick.

Triggers are attack and block. End opens the settings panel, F10 recenters. VR controllers have no D-pad, so it is a chord: hold the left stick in and flick the right stick. Full control tables are in the README inside the zip.

Known issues

  • Melee is awkward in VR
  • Native stereo is performance intensive
  • Some UI elements are broken
  • AFR is not stable when dropping below native refresh rate
  • Random crashes
  • Meta/Oculus OpenXR is not supported — use VDXR (Virtual Desktop) or SteamVR

Requirements

  • Bannerlord v1.4.8 (Steam version tested)
  • Harmony, enabled in the launcher
  • Windows 10/11, 64-bit
  • An active OpenXR runtime

Tested

Quest 3 on Virtual Desktop (VDXR) and on SteamVR OpenXR;
PSVR2 on SteamVR OpenXR. Other headsets may work through SteamVR OpenXR — open an issue either way.

Reporting a problem

Attach both logs from Documents\Mount and Blade II Bannerlord\Logs\:
BannerlordVR.log and BannerlordVR.Native.log. They are rewritten every launch, so grab them before relaunching. Say which headset, which runtime and which render mode.

For some reason Windows security block the mod dll, you can bypass that by adding an exclusion in

windows security -> virus and threat protection -> virus and threat protection settings Manage settings-> add exclusion to the mod folder.

Single-player only. Unofficial fan project, not affiliated with TaleWorlds. No game files are redistributed.
