From Velocity

1. Stop the proxy.
2. Replace the Velocity jar with the PaperProxy jar.
3. Start it. Your velocity.toml, plugins and forwarding secret are used as they are.

Going back is the same step in reverse. PaperProxy only adds its own files (paperproxy.toml, messages.yml, motd.yml).

From BungeeCord or Waterfall

1. Check your plugins with the Plugin Checker.
2. Copy your BungeeCord plugins into plugins/ of PaperProxy.
3. Add your servers to velocity.toml under [servers] and the order under try.
4. Forwarding: modern forwarding is the secure choice for Paper 1.13+ backends. For older backends that only support BungeeCord forwarding, use PaperGuard. See Forwarding and PaperGuard.
5. Permissions: LuckPerms-Bungee works, and so does the Velocity version of LuckPerms.

Things to know

• BungeeCord's config.yml is not read. Settings live in velocity.toml and paperproxy.toml.
• Plugins that hook into the Netty pipeline do not work. See BungeeCord Plugins.
