BetaMoon runs on Minecraft Beta 1.7.3. See Home for the documented BetaMoon version.
Replace <version> in the example JAR paths with the version you installed.
- Java 8, selected for the Minecraft instance.
- Risugami's ModLoader for Beta 1.7.3.
- MinecraftForge 1.0.6 for Beta 1.7.3.
- The BetaMoon JAR for the version shown on Home.
The packaged BetaMoon JAR includes LuaJ 3.0.1 and the Java agent's runtime dependencies.
Download links are maintained in the code repository's requirements. Use the matching Beta 1.7.3 files.
These steps use MultiMC's instance controls.
- Create a Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 instance.
- Open Edit Instance → Settings, enable the instance's Java setting and select the Java 8 executable. On Windows, select
bin/javaw.exeinside the Java installation. - Open Version → Add to Minecraft.jar. Add ModLoader first and Forge second.
- In Loader mods, add and enable the BetaMoon JAR.
- Add the BetaMoon Java agent as described below.
- Launch the instance and inspect the console for initialization errors.
The BetaMoon JAR also supplies the Java agent required for callbacks on existing content and global block/item interaction events. Add the following to the instance's JVM arguments, using the actual absolute path:
-javaagent:"F:/Games/MultiMC/instances/BetaMoon/.minecraft/mods/betamoon-<version>.jar"
On Windows, use forward slashes and quote the path as shown, especially when it contains spaces. The agent path must point to the same installed BetaMoon version. Restart Minecraft after changing JVM arguments. Click the argument in BetaMoon's agent warning to copy it for the detected JAR location.
For a launcher that uses a manually modified minecraft.jar, back up the original JAR. Add ModLoader's files, remove the original META-INF signature directory, then add Forge's files. Put BetaMoon in the instance's mods folder and configure Java 8.
Append the following to the instance's JVM arguments, replacing the example with the absolute path to the installed JAR:
-javaagent:"C:/Users/YourName/AppData/Roaming/.minecraft/mods/betamoon-<version>.jar"
For a script that launches Java directly, place this option before the main class or -jar argument in the existing command. Restart Minecraft after changing the arguments.
