Learn about vigilant mode.

First release under the Omnix name (previously FyxOS). Boot it, run sudo omnix-install, and pick a flavor:

  • Atrium: polished, mouse-first KDE Plasma 6.7, with independent virtual desktops on every monitor
  • Autarchy (stable / latest): Omarchy on Hyprland, built from Omarchy's own source
  • Minimal: the Omnix base alone

The ISO is nixpkgs' stock minimal installer plus omnix-install. Everything else downloads from cache.nixos.org during the install, locked to the ISO's nixpkgs revision (nixos-unstable c59305b). Whole-disk installs only (ext4, btrfs or XFS, optional LUKS, UEFI or BIOS); dual-boot is planned for v2.

Renamed from FyxOS

  • Installer: fyxos-install → omnix-install; unattended answers FYXOS_* → OMNIX_*
  • Module options: fyx.fhs.* → omnix.fhs.*
  • Flake input: fyxos → omnix (github:Omnix-Linux/Omnix); flavors now set inputs.omnix.follows
  • Installed configuration: nixosConfigurations.fyxos → nixosConfigurations.omnix

Machines installed from v0.1.0 keep working as they are. To move one to the new names, rename the fyxos input to omnix, point it at github:Omnix-Linux/Omnix, and rename any fyx.fhs options.

Tested

In QEMU over UEFI with tests/install-qemu.py: unattended installs of Minimal on btrfs (boots to its login prompt) and Atrium on XFS (boots to the graphical greeter). nix flake check passes for the base and for both flavors.

Preview quality: expect rough edges. Known gaps are in each repository's README and in Omnix#1.
