Initial public seed release of OpenSyria administrative geography data.

Includes:

  • 14 governorates
  • 62 districts
  • 272 subdistricts
  • 7,605 localities
  • JSON, NDJSON, CSV, SQL, YAML, and XML artifacts
  • Source attribution and SHA-256 checksums in release-manifest.json

Known limitations:

  • Records are seed data and should continue to improve through source-backed follow-up releases.
  • 2 subdistricts do not have population values.
  • 6 localities do not have Arabic names yet.
  • Locality GeoNames coverage is partial.
  • Locality population is not modeled in this release.
