OpenNOW PS5 0.3.0 maps to native content version 00.003.000, title ID PPSA99082. It was tested on a PS5 running firmware 13.60.

A new interface

The interface now follows OpenNOW's own console mode:

  • Library and Store poster grids, a game details page with "Play on" store chips, a sidebar for Settings, a numbered launch and queue screen, and DualSense button hints.
  • Real store logos: Steam, Epic Games, Xbox/Microsoft Store, Ubisoft Connect, EA, GOG, Battle.net, NVIDIA and Gaijin.
  • Animation that runs on frame time, so it stays smooth at 60 and 120 Hz. The focus ring glides, the focused poster scales up, the grid scrolls smoothly, pages fade in, sheets slide in, cover art fades in, and toggles, sliders and progress bars animate. The UI stops redrawing when nothing moves.
  • Drawing a frame takes about a quarter of the time it took in 0.2.0, based on host-preview measurements.
  • Cover art saved on the PS5 loads at startup, and the rows next to the visible ones load ahead of time.

Home-screen tiles for individual games

Press Triangle in a game's details to add that game to the PS5 home screen, for example Forza Horizon 6. OpenNOW builds the tile, with its icon and backgrounds, in its own sandbox. Then a separate installer payload copies the tile into /data/homebrew through elfldr. After a homebrew rescan in ShadowMountPlus, the tile opens OpenNOW straight into that game, using your saved login and stream settings. OpenNOW itself is never elevated.

Tiles use the standard PS5 Forwarder Format, so they work with Forwarder Manager and the standard launcher. Requirements: ShadowMountPlus, and elfldr on port 9021. See title forwarding.

Streaming and sessions matched to OpenNOW

  • Session requests match OpenNOW: regional discovery, network test, queue position and setup progress.
  • A session that is already running is detected instead of starting a second one.
  • After an app restart, OpenNOW resumes the session that is still running.
  • NVST signaling and the data channels are stricter. The stream recovers from stalls and handles the server's idle and shutdown messages. QoS reports are accurate.
  • Rumble reaches the DualSense.
  • New Settings → Input & controllers: left and right stick dead zones, vibration intensity, mouse sensitivity, and keeping in-game settings between sessions for games that support it.
  • Token renewal during a stream no longer blocks.

Installation

  1. Download OpenNOW-PS5-0.3.0.zip, OpenNOW-PS5-0.3.0.manifest.json and SHA256SUMS.
  2. Check them against SHA256SUMS.
  3. Close OpenNOW and keep a copy of your current PPSA99082 folder outside the folders your loader scans.
  4. Replace the whole PPSA99082 folder through a native homebrew directory loader such as ShadowMountPlus.

Your saved login is kept. It stays in /download0/opennow inside the app's sandbox; don't upload that folder in an issue.

Testing and limits

  • Host tests pass under ASan/UBSan. The native GPU package passes the import check and installer ELF validation.
  • Confirmed on a PS5: hardware decoding, the cover art cache, store logos and animations.
  • Not yet confirmed: home-screen tile creation on other firmware versions, sustained 120 FPS, and real HDR game content.
  • Audio is still stereo only.
  • OpenNOW's separate RTSPS/Mjolnir transport is not ported.
