PageBrick 1.4.1
- The installer puts back the
.htaccessfiles an upload left out. Many FTP and file-manager programs skip files whose names start with a dot, and a host's own.htaccess(the one that picks the PHP version) can sit there instead: with no PageBrick rules in it, every address of the panel was a 404 from the host right after a finished installation. The installer now creates the missing.htaccessfiles, or puts the PageBrick lines on top of the host's, leaving its lines as they were. If it cannot write the file, step 2 shows the lines to paste by hand and hides "Let's go" until the check turns green. - The last screen of the installer checks the panel before opening it, and says why when the panel address answers 404, with a "Try again" button.
- The e-mail settings explain a refused login. "SMTP Error: Could not authenticate." now says the server refused the username or the password (and, for Titan, to turn on "Enable Titan on other apps"); a server that cannot be reached says to check the address, the port and the security. The test e-mail hints at SMTP when it goes to the site's own domain with no SMTP set, where it can be lost.
- The full list is in the CHANGELOG.
Update: this is a fix release, so sites on "Automatic for fixes only" (the default) install it by themselves in the next few hours. To do it now: Settings → Updates → Update to 1.4.1. The update checks every page of the site afterwards and goes back by itself if anything breaks.
New install: download pagebrick-1.4.1.zip below, upload what is inside its pagebrick folder to your hosting (including .htaccess, which some programs hide), create a MySQL database and open the site. Requirements: PHP 8.2+, MySQL 5.7+ or MariaDB 10.4+, Apache with mod_rewrite.
