OpenSocrates 1.5.2 — reasoning instructions in ten languages

OpenSocrates 1.5.2 adds French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Thai
to the existing English, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Japanese content.
All 48 authored methods include complete procedures and canonical examples:
480 procedure files, 3,840 cases and three teacher questions per method per
language, 1,440 questions total.

Content revision 5 preserves the existing four languages' procedure/case body
bytes and metadata/question values while changing each method's revision identity
from 4 to 5. Method, locale and revision remain distinct parts of a complete-read
identity; unchanged text does not make an older receipt current.

The six new languages receive controllers, decision and reader guides,
presentation rules, catalogs and canonical references across the four existing
host profiles. Portuguese uses Brazilian orthography under the generic pt code,
without claiming separate support for every regional variant. Thai uses a
script-appropriate character-count contract rather than English whitespace word
counts. Content coverage and semantic review are separate from live host use.

Hosts and platforms

Profile Scope
Codex Apple-silicon Mac and Windows x64; existing native runtime and hooks
Claude Code CLI / Desktop local Code Apple-silicon Mac; bounded stateless entry and complete references
Claude web / Desktop Chat / Cowork Executable-free account skill ZIP; export on Mac or Windows, separate account upload and activation
Antigravity conversation application Apple-silicon Mac and Windows x64; owned workspace or global rule and skill

This is a v1.5 maintenance release, separate from the v1.6.0 Go migration and
Windows ARM64 work. Native Windows Claude Code, Intel Mac and Linux native
qualification are not added. Account skills remain model-selected and can be
missed; they add no native hooks or every-message enforcement. Installation,
loading, full reads, actual application and useful outcomes are separate evidence.
No new general answer-quality, token-cost or latency gain is claimed.

Choose an instruction language

The closed authored codes are en|ko|zh|ja|fr|de|it|es|pt|th.
For the retained selector, a trusted explicit choice overrides a stored one;
otherwise the current input's script is detected. Kana selects Japanese first.
Dominant Thai, Hangul or Han then selects Thai, Korean or Chinese. Empty input,
ties or unknown scripts fall back to English. French, German, Italian, Spanish
and Portuguese share Latin script and need an explicit or saved choice. Han-only
Japanese also requires an explicit ja choice.

From the installed Mac Codex package root:

bin/launch.sh locale codex get
bin/launch.sh locale codex set fr
bin/launch.sh locale codex set th
bin/launch.sh locale codex reset

On Windows use node bin/launch.mjs locale codex get, the corresponding
set <code> and reset commands. set follow and reset clear only the stored
language preference. The retained SDK selector remains unavailable on Windows.
Stateless decision requests require the explicit JSON locale, read no stored
settings and do not accept follow. Account/content packages use the matching
guides and references, without the native preference store.

The npm installer has no --locale option. Instruction language is distinct
from answer language, host UI and installer output. Unknown locale choices or
extra CLI arguments are rejected. Runtime readers retain complete historical
two-/four-language content compatibility; old packages do not acquire ten
languages without updating.

Install or update

Use Node.js 20+. Native runtimes are bundled; installation requires no Python.
Windows native installation uses Windows PowerShell on Windows 11 x64.

npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.2 install --host codex
npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.2 status --host codex
# Existing installation:
npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.2 update --host codex

On Apple-silicon Mac select install --host claude for the native companion.
For Antigravity select install --host antigravity; add the existing absolute
--workspace path for workspace scope or omit it for global scope. Avoid duplicate
active scopes for the same work. The default and --host all still select Codex
only. Preserve deliberately disabled installations and use the host's real
plugin/hook trust flow, then start a fresh conversation.

For the Claude account skill:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.2 export --host claude-chat --output /absolute/path/to/opensocrates-1.5.2-account.zip

Use an existing output folder. Back up the previous skill and enabled state,
then upload and enable the ZIP in the correct Claude account. Preserve existing
account instructions when adding the standing instruction from the setup guide.
Successful export does not upload, activate or prove automatic skill use.

The release layout retains Codex Mac and Windows x64 archives, the Mac
opensocrates-1.5.2-claude-plugin.zip, portable
opensocrates-1.5.2-claude-chat-skills.zip and
opensocrates-1.5.2-antigravity-plugin.zip, with SHA-256 sidecars and inventories.
Portable content ZIPs contain no native runtime or Windows suffix. Exact validation,
publication and public-byte verification evidence belongs to the final issue/PR
handoff, rather than being inferred from this release description.

explain exact invocation and compatibility boundaries. Dated v1.5.0/v1.5.1
observations and screenshots remain historical; use current 1.5.2 commands.

The exact English final line Powered by OpenSocrates appears only after an
eligible canonical method is fully read and actually applied to the answer.
Reader guidance alone and mechanical work do not qualify. The same line is used
in all ten languages and does not prove native application or better results.

No telemetry, credential collection, raw prompt/transcript storage, screenshot
retention or hidden-reasoning capture is introduced. Script detection uses
transient current input. Stateless native entry and decision retrieval do not
read private transcripts or initialize a database. Host authentication,
permissions, retention and terms still govern normal conversations.

OpenSocrates 1.5.1 — Simplified Chinese and Japanese

OpenSocrates 1.5.1 adds Simplified Chinese (zh) and Japanese (ja) reasoning
instructions to the existing English and Korean content. All 48 authored
methods have complete procedures and canonical examples in four languages:
192 procedure files and three teacher questions per method per language,
576 questions total. Individual methods, the bundle and the overlay advance to
content revision 4 while preserving the original English/Korean method text.

Localized content covers the four existing delivery profiles: Codex,
Claude Code on Apple-silicon Mac, the content-only Claude account skill, and
Antigravity workspace/global rules and skills. Language availability does not
prove host activation, complete reads or application in an actual answer.

Hosts and platforms

  • Codex: Apple-silicon Mac and Windows x64; existing native runtime and hooks.
  • Claude Code CLI / Desktop local Code: Apple-silicon Mac; bounded,
stateless entry and complete installed references.
  • Claude web / Desktop Chat / Cowork: executable-free account skill ZIP,
exported on Mac or Windows; upload and activation remain separate account UI
operations. The host model selects the skill and can miss it.
  • Antigravity conversation application: Apple-silicon Mac and Windows x64;
owned rule and skill in workspace or global scope.

This maintenance release is separate from v1.6.0 preparation. It adds no Windows
ARM64, native Windows Claude Code, Intel Mac or Linux native qualification.
Existing privacy, ownership, disabled-state preservation, rollback and fail-open
boundaries remain in place. The dated v1.5.0 host evidence remains historical;
translation and publication do not regrade its results.

Language selection

The retained selector prefers a trusted explicit language, then the stored
locale preference, then current-input script detection. Kana selects Japanese
before counts; otherwise dominant Hangul selects Korean and dominant Han
characters select Chinese. Latin-only, empty and tied inputs fall back to
English. Han-only text is ambiguous, so specify Japanese when needed. zh
provides Simplified Chinese, not a separate Traditional Chinese locale.

From the native Codex package root on Mac, use
bin/launch.sh locale codex get, bin/launch.sh locale codex set zh or set ja.
set follow or reset clears the preference. On Windows, use
node bin/launch.mjs locale codex get and the corresponding set/reset
commands. The retained SDK selector remains unavailable on Windows.

Stateless decision requests use their explicit JSON locale and read no stored
settings. Account/content packages use their matching guides and references.
Instruction language is separate from answer language, host UI and npm installer
messages. This release adds no installer --locale option.
See the language guide
and 한국어 안내.

Install or update

Use Node.js 20+. Native runtimes are bundled. On Windows use Windows PowerShell
on Windows 11 x64. The version-pinned installer downloads the selected archive
and checksum from this release:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.1 install --host codex
npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.1 status --host codex
# For an existing installation:
npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.1 update --host codex

Use install --host claude for the Mac native companion. For Antigravity use
install --host antigravity, adding --workspace with an existing absolute
directory for workspace scope or omitting it for global scope. The default and
--host all select Codex only. Review the host's real plugin/hook permissions
and start a fresh conversation after installation or changes.

Export account content to an absolute ZIP filename in an existing directory:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.1 export --host claude-chat --output /absolute/path/to/opensocrates-1.5.1-account.zip

Back up an existing OpenSocrates skill and its enabled state before replacing it.
Upload and enable the new ZIP in Claude's Customize > Skills interface, then add
the standing account instruction while preserving existing instructions.
Account export does not upload, activate or prove automatic skill use.
The setup guide
uses current commands and retains dated interface screenshots.
中文 README
and 日本語 README
include installation and language boundaries.

Assets, attribution and privacy

The release layout retains Codex Mac and Windows x64 archives, the Mac
opensocrates-1.5.1-claude-plugin.zip, portable
opensocrates-1.5.1-claude-chat-skills.zip and
opensocrates-1.5.1-antigravity-plugin.zip, with SHA-256 sidecars and inventories.
The portable content ZIPs have no native runtime or Windows suffix.

A final answer ends with the exact English line Powered by OpenSocrates only
when an eligible canonical method was fully read and actually applied to the
answer. The rule is the same in all four languages. Reader guidance alone and
mechanical work do not qualify; attribution is not proof of better results.

Language selection introduces no telemetry, credential collection, raw prompt or
transcript logging, screenshot retention or hidden-reasoning capture. Stateless
native entry and decision retrieval do not read private transcripts or initialize
a database. Host conversations remain governed by the host's authentication,
permissions, retention settings and terms. No universal answer-quality,
token-cost or latency improvement is claimed.

@ParkerHwang ParkerHwang released this 10 Oct 04:57
Immutable release. Only release title and notes can be modified.

OpenSocrates 1.5.0 — reasoning assistance on Mac and Windows

OpenSocrates 1.5.0 builds from v1.4, preserving all 48 authored reasoning methods
and complete English/Korean procedures. Shared reader guidance helps connect
source synthesis, decisions and stakeholder messages to context and next actions.
Mechanical work can pass through without added reasoning ceremony. This release
adds no coding-specialist methods, project-memory store or broad orchestration.

Hosts and platforms

  • Codex, Apple-silicon Mac and Windows x64: existing hooks, native decision
runtime and installer lifecycle remain available.
  • Claude Code CLI / Desktop local Code, Apple-silicon Mac: a native companion
supplies bounded, stateless SessionStart/UserPromptSubmit entry and complete
installed references. Entry reads no private transcripts, initializes no
database and makes no additional selector-model call. Stop/SessionEnd are
    nonblocking no-ops.
  • Claude web Chat / Desktop Chat / Cowork account content: a standalone,
executable-free skill ZIP contains one controller and all 96 complete EN/KO
procedure files. Verified export works on Mac and Windows; upload and enabled
state are managed separately in Claude's account UI. Matching is selected by
the host model, with no native hooks or every-message enforcement.
  • Antigravity conversation application, Apple-silicon Mac and Windows x64:
an owned always-on rule and modular skill support workspace or global scope.
Installation preserves unrelated rules, GEMINI.md and AGENTS.md.

Native Windows Claude Code in a terminal or Desktop Code is intentionally
outside this release's scope. Intel Mac, Windows ARM64, Linux native packages,
remote/cloud native sessions and universal quality or efficiency gains are not
newly claimed.

Install and update

Use Node.js 20+. Native runtimes are bundled. Windows installation uses Windows
PowerShell on Windows 11 x64. The pinned npm installer downloads the selected
v1.5.0 archive and checksum from GitHub Releases:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.0 install --host codex
npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.0 status --host codex
# Update an existing Codex installation:
npx --yes opensocrates@1.5.0 update --host codex

On Apple-silicon Mac, use install --host claude for the native companion.
For Antigravity use install --host antigravity, adding --workspace with an
existing absolute directory for workspace scope, or omitting it for global scope.
For account content use export --host claude-chat --output with an absolute ZIP
filename in an existing folder, then upload and enable it in Claude's
Customize > Skills interface. Back up an existing OpenSocrates account skill and
its enabled state before replacement.

The default and --host all still select Codex. New profiles require an explicit
host and do not add purge, trust reset or automatic updates. Review native
plugin/hook permissions and use a fresh conversation after installation or
lifecycle changes. Account export does not install or activate the account skill.

See the versioned Mac guide
and Windows guide
for updates, disabling, removal, scope and local-archive alternatives.

Assets and attribution

The release includes Codex Mac and Windows x64 archives, the native Mac
opensocrates-1.5.0-claude-plugin.zip, portable
opensocrates-1.5.0-claude-chat-skills.zip and
opensocrates-1.5.0-antigravity-plugin.zip, with SHA-256 sidecars and release
inventories. The content ZIPs have no Windows suffix or native runtime.
The npm installer includes its helper modules. For the standalone
opensocrates.mjs asset, keep verified managed-hosts.mjs beside it and
windows.ps1 on Windows.

Managed native Claude/Antigravity install, update, disable, enable and remove
check exact ownership and full content hashes, refuse modified or unowned
collisions, and retain recovery state. Windows additionally checks owner/DACL,
reparse points and archive containment. Update preserves disabled state.

Across all profiles, a grounded answer ends with the exact line
Powered by OpenSocrates only after an eligible authored method was read in full
and actually applied. The same English wording is used in every locale.
Reader guidance alone and mechanical work do not qualify. The footer is not a
native application receipt or proof of a better result.

Archive verification, installation, host loading, complete reads, application
and useful outcomes remain distinct. CLI, Desktop local Code, web Chat, Desktop
Chat, Cowork, and Antigravity workspace/global cells depend on the actual
host/account. Historical observation records preserve their dated results and
limitations; publication does not regrade them or prove every installation's
live behavior. No general answer-quality, token-cost or latency improvement is
claimed.

OpenSocrates 1.4.0 — Codex only

OpenSocrates now supports Codex exclusively, with native packages for Apple-silicon
macOS and Windows x64. The 48 authored reasoning methods and their English/Korean
procedures remain available through Codex discovery and decision-point retrieval.

  • Removes Claude Code/Cowork, Claude Chat, Antigravity, Cursor, Grok Build and
OpenCode integrations, templates, runtime adapters and release assets.
  • Adds Windows x64 native installation, manual update, verification and removal
without WSL. Preserves private file ownership, bounded hooks and rollback.
  • Keeps archive/inventory validation, exact seven-hook trust protection and
privacy-safe lifecycle evidence. --host all now means Codex only.
npx --yes opensocrates@1.4.0 install

Review and approve the seven OpenSocrates hooks in a fresh interactive Codex
session. Installation does not itself prove hook approval or automatic delivery.

For an existing multi-host installation, use 1.3.1 to remove each retired host
before updating Codex. Version 1.4.0 rejects retired-host desired state and does
not silently delete those installations. See the migration guide.

Windows automatic updates, Windows ARM64/10, macOS Intel, Linux native packages,
signing/SmartScreen reputation and a separate clean-machine acceptance are not
claimed validated. Legacy records describe their recorded versions, not 1.4.0.
See Windows support and release evidence.

Publication verification

Published from merged commit 5a2ff3c312e92aa8a44d0905465674d9a4e4f645.
The seven-step Codex-only release plan is complete. GitHub reports this release
immutable; all 10 downloaded assets matched the validated publication bytes.
The npm latest version is 1.4.0 with trusted-publishing provenance, and all nine
package files matched tagged source. Public macOS installation and six automatic
Codex hook events were verified. See the completed evidence record
for exact commits, checksums, commands and remaining limitations.

The default Actions token could not read the administrative immutable-release
setting. Publication used the authorized owner account after exact-tag native
validation and a fresh policy check. The default-token automation limitation
remains explicit; no tag or asset was overwritten.

Codex 전용 릴리스 계획의 구현·검증·병합·태그·GitHub 및 npm 배포·공개 설치 검증을

OpenSocrates 1.3.1

This patch fixes the packaged one-shot decision command: pretty-printed JSON
now reaches the native selector as one complete, bounded document. Persistent
--stream input keeps its newline-delimited JSON contract.

  • The native release gate runs the packaged example and checks selection and
    repeated stream requests.
  • Concurrent lifecycle inspectors converge on one validated blocked receipt.
  • Release publication checks GitHub platform immutability and exact public bytes;
npm publication requires the matching immutable GitHub release.
  • English and Korean documentation distinguishes package validation, in-request
native observations, submission hooks, Desktop GUI and cloud activation.
  • All 48 methods and 96 authored EN/KO procedure bodies remain unchanged.
npx --yes opensocrates@1.3.1 install --host all
# Existing installations:
npx --yes opensocrates@1.3.1 update --host all

Native runtimes target Apple-silicon macOS. Package checks do not establish
live host delivery or actual method application. Desktop GUI, separate-Mac
installation, signing/notarization and Claude Chat cloud activation remain
unvalidated. No quality, latency, naturalness or token-cost improvement is claimed.
Historical P11 retains its 300-second deadline and 384.58-second final delivery.

The v1.3.0 tag and assets are preserved. This is a new patch release.

OpenSocrates 1.3.0

OpenSocrates can retrieve complete reasoning methods when a judgment changes
within the same request, while preserving the task's goals, permissions, evidence
and completion requirements. Mechanical work does not need a method.

The release adds conservative, presentation-only English and Korean Guided
profiles. They help organize optional prose without rewriting authored procedures,
removing required public outputs, hiding uncertainty or imposing universal length
caps. Guided instructions are not verified compliance or a humanizer/detector claim.

  • Claude/Codex use the existing native eligibility command first when available;
empty eligible selection stays valid, and genuine runtime failure retains a
constrained reference fallback. Other host delivery models remain unchanged.
  • Multi-question guidance keeps each conclusion, missing input and reopening
condition scoped to its question; model compliance remains probabilistic.
  • All 48 canonical methods and 96 authored EN/KO procedure bodies are retained.
  • All six existing host packages and the complete standalone Claude Chat ZIP ship.
  • Codex discovery exposes the controller, rigor and trace. Method IDs remain stable;
use the controller or complete internal references for prior method invocations.
  • The packaged decision <host> --stream route supports volatile same-process
delivery reuse. Context/epoch changes and process restarts invalidate assertions.
  • Default native discovery avoids first-use product-state initialization while
retaining safe cleanup of existing artifacts. Selected, emitted, agent-reported
available and actually applied states remain distinct.
  • Native runtimes target Apple-silicon macOS. Other native platforms are not shipped.

Evidence and support limits

Source, generated-content, installer and native-package gates protect this release.
Bounded synthetic model evaluation and complete visible-output measurements are
recorded in the repository; they do not establish full-catalog empirical superiority
or lower end-to-end cost. No discarded Compact or procedure-rewrite variant is
promoted.

Synthetic Codex runs using gpt-5.6-luna/max included300-second final-delivery
deadlines, including cases with a correct artifact already written. All failed
attempts remain recorded. A separate one-shot finite observation retains its
300-second marker; it is not evidence of a fixed response-time guarantee.
This release makes no demonstrated quality, naturalness, token-cost or latency
improvement claim.

skill is not upgraded by the local installer. Exact public assets are verified
against the release job's validated bytes after publication. That provenance is
separate from cloud activation or method-application evidence.

The existing host-specific evidence limitations, including Desktop GUI, separate
Mac installation and signing/notarization status, remain explicit in the release
record. See release progress and evidence.

Install

After the matching npm publication:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.3.0 install --host codex

Choose the matching host for other packages. Review native hook trust normally;
do not bypass it. Verify the named ZIP and checksum before manual installation.

Post-release correction: the publication workflow refused to overwrite an
existing release and verified the uploaded bytes, but the GitHub API reports
immutable: false for v1.3.0. Therefore GitHub's platform immutable-release
protection does not protect this release. Do not replace its tag or assets.
GitHub documents
that enabling the repository setting applies only to future releases; the
draft follow-up PR #92
adds a workflow gate that requires the setting before future publication.

OpenSocrates 1.2.1

OpenSocrates 1.2.1 adds a public development-adjudication snapshot and a
bilingual teacher-question overlay without changing the six hosts' real
delivery or evidence boundaries.

Adjudication snapshot

  • The repository now carries 51 EN/KO semantic-pair decisions and 49 resolved
disagreement records with strict Draft 2020-12 schemas, aggregate counts,
    referential-integrity checks, and committed hashes.
  • make adjudication-check validates the tracked snapshot from a clean clone
and runs adversarial mutations. It never upgrades the snapshot beyond its
    ai_assisted_provisional_development evidence grade.
  • The immutable public snapshot is anchored by a checker-pinned versioned lock
covering its 11 manifest-listed artifacts plus the manifest itself. The lock
is not regenerated by the finalizer and contains no maintainer-held evidence.
  • Historical packets, raw screening results, and reviewer artifacts remain
maintainer-held. Public validation reports that boundary directly; it does
not skip or claim those private checks passed.
  • The published adjudication snapshot is not confirmation-grade human gold,
not held-out, and not answer-quality evidence.

Teacher questions across six hosts

  • Every one of the 48 methods now has three unique English and three unique
Korean questions for the active agent to settle before acting. The canonical
overlay is schema-validated and bound into generated package identity while
authored method content revision 1 remains unchanged.
  • Claude and Codex lead their bounded hidden trusted hook context with the
questions. Guardrails take priority if the hook budget requires a fallback,
and complete grounded procedure reads remain mandatory.
  • Antigravity, Cursor, and Grok Build receive the questions through their
existing skill/content paths; no new hook or selector claim is made.
  • OpenCode's stable bridge injects one question-led compiled procedure and its
native fallback reads that same procedure without a duplicate preamble.

Packaging and privacy

  • Deterministic generation now compares all six host packages. Release checks
    reject evaluation or adjudication paths in every host and Claude Chat ZIP;
those source artifacts are also outside the npm package allowlist.
  • The selector still fails open, writes only authored OpenSocrates material to
temporary instruction artifacts, and records no prompts, transcripts,
credentials, workspace content, hidden reasoning, or user identity.

Upgrade notes

Update every managed host together with:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.2.1 update --host all

The released native runtime boundary remains Apple-silicon macOS
(darwin-arm64). This release adds no new live-host receipt; consult each host
support document for its existing validation level and remaining limitations.

OpenSocrates 1.2.0

OpenSocrates 1.2.0 expands the same managed lifecycle beyond Claude and Codex
with packages for Google Antigravity, Cursor, Grok Build, and OpenCode.

Google Antigravity and Cursor

  • Antigravity gets an experimental, content-only global plugin validated with
agy 1.0.6. It exposes one explicit opensocrates skill and 48 internal
    authored procedures.
  • Cursor gets an experimental, content-only Agent Plugin with one
/opensocrates skill and the same internal authored catalog.
  • Neither package adds hooks, a native runtime, a background process, or a
separate model call for automatic OpenSocrates selection. Antigravity's
package shape was live-validated; Cursor's package contract is
release-validated without a live invocation receipt.

Grok Build

  • Grok Build gets a dedicated native plugin with automatic same-turn skill
    selection and explicit /opensocrates invocation.
  • Automatic and explicit headless activation were live-validated on Grok Build
1.0.3. TUI host-hook execution was observed, while TUI native-skill and
    subagent-propagation receipts remain pending.
  • The shipped Grok package is content-only and owns only
~/.grok/plugins/opensocrates; it does not edit unrelated Grok
    configuration, hooks, plugins, or marketplaces.

OpenCode

  • OpenCode 1.18.18+ automatically discovers the generated global plugin and
    native opensocrates Agent Skill.
  • The stable chat.message bridge can inject one complete authored procedure
into the same model turn after bounded local judgment classification.
  • Mechanical, malformed, oversized, timed-out, and exceptional inputs fail
open. The bridge makes no extra model, network, subprocess, or recursive
    OpenCode call.
  • A real opencode run validated the exact generated bridge on OpenCode
1.18.18 with DeepSeek V4 Flash in both opencode run and the interactive
TUI. Native skill invocation remains unverified (discovery was validated).

Lifecycle and release safety

  • install, status, verify, update, remove, rollback, automatic
updates, and --host all now cover Antigravity, Claude, Codex, Cursor, Grok
    Build, and OpenCode.
  • Every host has an exact ownership boundary. The installer preserves unrelated
host files and configuration; in particular, it never rewrites
    opencode.json.
  • Host-qualified candidate assets define an exact --host all transaction, so
pre-release validation never mixes candidate packages with public-release
downloads for other locally available hosts.
  • Package and installed inventories, checksums, manifests, generated content,
ownership, deterministic archives, and release workflow assets are checked.

OpenSocrates 1.1.5

OpenSocrates 1.1.5 fixes three issues found during a clean-install deep review:
Claude grounding under default permissions, honest Codex hook-trust guidance,
and real installed-package integrity diagnosis.

Highlights

  • Claude grounding files now prefer a private .opensocrates area inside the
active workspace. Claude can read them without --add-dir, the area is
invisible to git status, and OS-temp fallback plus cross-root cleanup keep
    read-only or upgrade scenarios fail-open.
  • diagnose now hashes the complete installed package against
checksums.sha256 and validates the release manifest's version, host, and
content revision. It reports explicit mismatch or unavailable states instead
of treating file presence as verification.
  • The installer and Codex package README explain the required one-time
interactive hook approval. Until approval, non-interactive codex exec may
    silently skip the untrusted hooks.
  • Release tests cover workspace placement, fallback, cross-root receipts and
cleanup, Git invisibility, intact packaged runtimes, and staged package
    tampering.

Upgrade notes

Update both managed hosts together with:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.1.5 update --host all

After the Codex update, open one interactive Codex session and approve the
OpenSocrates hooks before relying on automatic selection. The released native
package remains limited to Apple-silicon macOS (darwin-arm64). Package
checksums detect local change or damage but are not a signed authenticity proof.

OpenSocrates still retains no raw prompts, transcripts, credentials, local
paths, hook payloads, tool output, selector reasoning, or user identity.

@github-actions github-actions released this 11 Aug 16:18

OpenSocrates 1.1.4

OpenSocrates 1.1.4 makes the native Claude package small enough for Cowork's
local plugin upload while preserving the established Claude and Codex host
boundaries.

Highlights

  • Claude and Codex now build from separate native runtime profiles. The Claude
package contains no Codex SDK or CLI entries; the Codex package keeps its
    existing runtime surface.
  • The Claude runtime uses PyInstaller's no-archive mode. Release checks reject
nested ZIP entries and enforce Cowork's 50 MB compressed and 200 MB
uncompressed limits using conservative decimal-byte thresholds.
  • A sanitized live receipt records Cowork accepting the 13.8 MB compressed,
34.1 MB uncompressed candidate and delivering UserPromptSubmit,
PostToolUse(Read), Stop, SessionStart, and SessionEnd hooks.
  • Claude selector outcomes are persisted only as bounded, content-free counts.
    diagnose distinguishes an unreadable aggregate from zero attempts;
malformed current-schema data self-heals on the next valid outcome while an
    unknown future schema is preserved.
  • Runtime output paths follow the detected native target, and default plugin
generation reads only dist/runtime/<host>, preventing mixed or mislabeled
runtime trees from entering a package.

Upgrade notes

Update both managed hosts together with:

npx --yes opensocrates@1.1.4 update --host all

The released native package remains limited to Apple-silicon macOS
(darwin-arm64). Cowork can use the Claude package through its local plugin
upload path. Repository sync is not claimed because OpenSocrates still does not
ship a Cowork marketplace manifest. Claude web and Desktop Chat remain
skills-only surfaces without plugin hooks.

No committed receipt contains prompts, transcripts, credentials, local paths,
raw hook payloads, tool output, selector reasoning, or user identity.
