TROOPER 1.0.1

@Pinielnathan Pinielnathan released this 26 Jul 01:50

Every sound is different now.

1.0.0 shipped with 217 of its 530 presets having a near-identical twin. Each
category was one engine with a few knobs jittered inside a single range, and
random points in a box cluster: nudging felt from 40 to 55 does not make a
different piano.

Presets are now built from voicings. Each category picks a distinctly
different corner first - six pianos, five pads, five plucks, four basses -
and roughly three quarters then take a quiet second engine underneath, which
is where most of the real variety comes from. 217 near-identical down to 12.

Category levels are also trimmed toward a common loudness. Piano sat 9 dB
under the bowed sounds, so browsing jumped in volume between neighbours.

Other fixes:

  • Opens at 75% so it fits alongside a mixer and a playlist
  • A new instance actually loads its first sound. It used to show a preset
name in the browser while the engine sat on factory defaults, so the sound
you saw was not the sound you played
  • The keyboard takes focus on open, so letter keys play immediately

Preset names are unchanged but they sound different from 1.0.0. A project
saved with 1.0.0 will recall a different sound. That is the reason for the
version bump.

The installer is not code signed, so Windows SmartScreen will warn you.
