Changes

Several Sentry comparison pages described Sentry as open source today, but Sentry's main web app is source-available under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0) — not OSI-approved, and only converting to Apache-2.0 after a two-year grace period. This contradicted both the structured data (platform.deployment.open_source: 'Eventually' in src/hooks/competitorData/sentry.tsx) and the accurate FSL caveat already present in best-error-tracking-tools.mdx.

Updated the prose in four places to match:

  • contents/blog/posthog-vs-sentry.mdx — "Are there open-source error tracking tools?"
  • contents/blog/best-sentry-alternatives.mdx — Rollbar vs Sentry differences, and "Which Sentry alternatives are open source?"
  • contents/blog/best-error-tracking-tools.mdx — "Are there open-source error tracking tools?"

Wording now describes Sentry as self-hostable and source-available under the FSL, converting to Apache-2.0 after two years, while keeping PostHog and GlitchTip as fully open source (MIT).

Why: Over-crediting Sentry as open source created internal inconsistency with our own structured comparison data and weakened trust in the comparison content.

… FSL licensing

Sentry's main web app is source-available under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-Apache-2.0), which is not OSI-approved and converts to Apache-2.0 only after a two-year grace period. Several comparison pages over-credited Sentry as open source today, contradicting the structured data (open_source: 'Eventually') and the accurate FSL caveat already present in best-error-tracking-tools.mdx.

Eager-graph budgets are report-only until a baseline is established. Sizes are gzip of public/**/*.js; eager size is webpack module source bytes.
