BLU (Better Level Up!) is designed to enhance your World of Warcraft experience by providing customizable sound options for various in-game events. This guide outlines the versions of World of Warcraft that are supported by BLU, including any limitations in feature support.
BLU is compatible with multiple versions of World of Warcraft, allowing you to enjoy enhanced audio experiences across different gameplay modes. Below are the specific game versions that BLU supports:
- Compatibility: Full support
- Description: The retail version of World of Warcraft, also known as The War Within, is fully supported by BLU. This includes all the latest expansions and content updates.
- Supported Features: BLU provides sound enhancements for events such as leveling up, gaining reputation, earning achievements, completing Trading Post activities, and more.
- Compatibility: Partial support
- Description: BLU is compatible with Classic WoW, including the latest updates like Season of Discovery and Classic Hardcore modes. However, some features available in the Retail version are not supported due to the limitations of the Classic client.
- Supported Features: BLU supports sound enhancements for leveling up, gaining reputation, and other key events in Classic WoW. Features related to newer systems, such as Trading Post activities and Dragonflight renown, are excluded.
- Compatibility: Partial support
- Description: BLU is also compatible with the Classic Cataclysm version of World of Warcraft. While it supports most features, some that are specific to Retail content, like Trading Post and certain achievements, are not available.
- Supported Features: BLU enhances sound effects for various in-game events in Classic Cataclysm, similar to Classic WoW. Features tied to content introduced in later expansions, such as certain reputation systems and Trading Post activities, are excluded.
BLU’s alpha branch is available for those who wish to test the latest features and improvements before they are released in the stable version. The alpha branch is also compatible with the above game versions.
- CurseForge: The alpha version of BLU can be downloaded from CurseForge. This version includes cutting-edge features and bug fixes that are still in testing.
- CurseForge App: You can also install the alpha branch using the CurseForge app by filtering for alpha versions in the app’s add-on management section.
- New Features: Alpha versions include new and experimental features that may not yet be available in the stable release.

- Issue: In Classic WoW, some players might hear a double sound when accepting quests.
