Hibiscus 0.8.17 makes the first-run experience reliable from the moment the app opens.

  • The seven-day trial now starts automatically, survives relaunches, and refreshes signed access before it expires.
  • Setup now configures Quick Capture, AI Actions, AI providers, and Dictation with real readiness checks.
  • New notes open as a clean editor; a note is created only after meaningful input, and Return simply adds a new line.
  • Imports no longer attempt AI work until an AI provider is ready.
  • Fresh installs ignore unrelated legacy databases instead of showing a false notes-recovery warning.
  • The selected Dock icon is restored at the earliest safe point when Hibiscus launches.
