Release list
Hibiscus 0.8.26
Hibiscus 0.8.26 makes the main writing surface feel native and uninterrupted.
- The editor is now flat and edge-to-edge, with identical one-pixel dividers and generous invisible resize targets on both sides.
- The formatting toolbar keeps its rounded ends and uses the native Liquid Glass geometry on macOS 26.
- Typing
->or<-now creates the matching right or left arrow without breaking undo. - Alternative Dock icons retain the standard macOS icon footprint.
Hibiscus 0.8.25
Fixed a rare editor race that could remove recent text during rapid Undo and Redo. Manual edits no longer show an incorrect Edited by AI badge.
Hibiscus 0.8.24
Hibiscus now shows the original seven-day trial deadline consistently. Refreshing the short-lived signed license no longer makes the trial appear to gain an extra day.
Hibiscus 0.8.23
Markdown files now open correctly with Hibiscus from Finder’s Open With menu and import their contents when dragged into the editor. This release also restores the standard macOS Markdown document registration and preserves the existing image-drop behavior.
Hibiscus 0.8.22
Hibiscus 0.8.22 fixes provider API keys disappearing after quit and relaunch. Keychain cleanup now explicitly targets the legacy Keychain and can no longer delete the newly verified modern item.
Hibiscus 0.8.21
Hibiscus 0.8.21 keeps cloud AI provider keys available after you quit and reopen the app. API and dictation keys are accepted only after durable Keychain storage is verified, stale entries can no longer shadow replacements, and temporary Keychain interruptions no longer erase a valid setup. Licensing now preserves paid and trial activations through transient Keychain read misses.
Hibiscus 0.8.20
Hibiscus 0.8.20 keeps AI provider credentials available after Mac lock, login, wake, or temporary Keychain service interruptions. Existing API keys remain securely stored and become available again without re-entry.
Hibiscus 0.8.19
Hibiscus 0.8.19 makes everyday note capture and editing more reliable.
- Quick Capture now saves consistently, including during first-time setup.
- New notes stay clean and temporary until you actually start writing.
- Rapid typing no longer loses the end of the first sentence.
- Archived notes can be restored by clicking the complete row.
- Activity now counts words written from a fresh blank note.
- Shortcut settings detect conflicts across Quick Capture, AI Actions, transformations, and app commands.
- AI readiness, permissions, update checks, and manual QA builds now report and isolate their state more accurately.
- Expanded native macOS regression coverage for note creation, Quick Capture, archive restore, Settings, onboarding, and rapid note switching.
Hibiscus 0.8.18
Hibiscus 0.8.18 makes editing and AI workflows more dependable.
- Start a conversation in the right-side Assistant even when no note is open.
- Replace AI replies predictably: the original selection, the current selection, or the whole note is now targeted explicitly.
- Delete multiple selected notes with Cmd+Delete without opening them in separate windows.
- Drop or paste supported documents directly into a note to insert their contents instead of a file path. Images are saved as inline attachments, and drops onto the blank editor create one note.
- Pin the compatible audio dependency release to keep clean builds reliable.
Hibiscus 0.8.17
Hibiscus 0.8.17 makes the first-run experience reliable from the moment the app opens.
- The seven-day trial now starts automatically, survives relaunches, and refreshes signed access before it expires.
- Setup now configures Quick Capture, AI Actions, AI providers, and Dictation with real readiness checks.
- New notes open as a clean editor; a note is created only after meaningful input, and Return simply adds a new line.
- Imports no longer attempt AI work until an AI provider is ready.
- Fresh installs ignore unrelated legacy databases instead of showing a false notes-recovery warning.
- The selected Dock icon is restored at the earliest safe point when Hibiscus launches.
