v1.3.0

@RamonGebben RamonGebben released this 14 Sep 05:18

Adds custom creatures: DM-authored homebrew monsters that sit alongside the Open5e library everywhere a creature is used.

  • Create a creature from a blank form or by copying ("reskinning") an existing library or custom one, with the curated statblock field set and repeatable trait/action/attack rows.
  • Custom creatures show up in the library browser (with a "Custom" badge and source filter), the statblock panel, live encounters, and saved encounter presets — exactly like library creatures, including edit and delete controls.
  • A saved preset still reaches a custom creature the same way it reaches a library one: add it to the board, then "Save current" — a preset stays composition, not a snapshot.
  • Deleting a custom creature that's still on the board or in a saved preset now succeeds cleanly instead of erroring mid-apply, and a combatant left pointing at a deleted creature reads "Creature unavailable" instead of a misleading "Nothing selected".

v1.2.0

@RamonGebben RamonGebben released this 12 Sep 08:33

Adds a "Measure" tab to the Maps canvas: a distance ruler and D&D-2024 spell-area templates for the DM to place directly on the battle map.

  • Place a ruler or a spell-area template (circle/sphere, cone, line, cube/square) with a click-to-set-origin, live-follow-cursor, click-to-confirm gesture — or pick a 5e size preset, or a spell via the built-in lookup, to place at an exact size and skip straight to aiming its direction.
  • Distance uses 5e's grid-square-counting convention, and every placement snaps to the center of a grid cell — the same spot a token sits in — not its nearest corner.
  • Before an origin is even clicked, the cell a placement would land in is highlighted in the armed tool's own color, live on both the DM's and the players' screens, with its own TV-readability size control separate from the label-size one.
  • Shapes persist per map, several can coexist, and any placed shape can be selected and dragged to reposition it.
  • Picking a spell from the built-in lookup auto-fills its shape and size and auto-assigns a colour from its damage type.
  • Matched spells play an animated effect clip — a curated set from the community animated-spell-effects project — clipped to the shape's own silhouette, once or looping for the spell's full duration, with multiple instances of the same spell animating independently.
  • A shape's label size is configurable (1x–3x) for TVs viewed from across the room, and applies live and retroactively to every label already on the board.
  • The "open the player screen" link now refocuses an already-open window instead of spawning a new tab every time, on both the tracker and the Maps tool.

v1.1.0

@RamonGebben RamonGebben released this 09 Sep 15:12

Adds a configurable tracker overlay to the player screen's map view.

  • The player screen's map view can now show a compact initiative tracker overlaid on the map, in addition to the DM-controlled screen orientation added earlier in this release.
  • The overlay's position is draggable on the DM's own canvas, and toggles for opacity, size, and which fields (initiative, name, health, conditions) it shows live in the session controls panel.
  • Combatant conditions are now surfaced on the overlay, filtered through the same player-safe payload the rest of the player view uses.
  • Fixed the overlay's layout and a missing scrollbar on small overlay sizes, and hardened edge cases: a long roster now grows the overlay toward the screen's center instead of off-screen, and scrolling over the overlay on the DM's canvas no longer zooms the player lens underneath it.
