Weapon and psionic keys
- Number keys pick weapons is now called Weapon and psionic keys, your choice is kept
- It is no longer experimental
- Each weapon and each psionic power takes two keys on the launcher's Controls page, under the setting
- At first a weapon has its number and the same number on the keypad
- The powers have no keys at first
- A key shows the game's weapon list or psionics list for a second, and the game plays on
- The key of the weapon or power already in hand shows no list
- Blast's key still picks it once the game turns it into TeraBlast
- With the setting off the game chooses weapons as it always did
The keys on the launcher's Controls page, here with keys given to the powers:
Setting the keys:
- Click a key and press the new one, Delete takes a key away
- A key an action has cannot go to a weapon or a power, and theirs cannot go to an action
- The note says who has the key, and Take it moves it there: the other gets your old key, or none
- Two weapons or powers swap their keys
- Shift, Ctrl, Alt and the fixed keys never pick
- Nothing is picked while Alt is held, so Alt+Enter stays the window's
- A key that an action gets in the other scheme shows faint, the action keeps it
Psionic keys use the power
- A new setting under Weapon and psionic keys, on at first
- A power's key also uses the power once it is in hand
- Holding the key keeps using it, like Psionic attack
- With it off the key only picks the power
Both settings are in the game's menu too, on Controls:
Enemies and shots at 60 FPS
- Under 60 FPS gameplay enemies and shots now move on every frame, as doors and lifts do
- Before, the game moved them on every second frame, so they jerked against the smooth world
- In-between frames carry them smoothly too
Enemies:
enemy-steps.mp4
At quarter speed:
enemy-steps-quarter.mp4
Shots:
enemy-shot-steps.mp4
At half speed:
enemy-shot-steps-slow.mp4
Controls page
- Keys come right after Control scheme
- Weapons and psionics have a group of their own, their tables under the setting that turns them on
- Default weapon and psionic keys puts back only those
- Delete takes an action's key away too
- Two profiles keep every key of the page, the weapons' and the powers' too: Save to 1 or 2, Load 1 or 2
- The scheme and the mouse stay out of a profile
- Bring saves brings the profiles along
- Mouse, Vertical look and Gamepad follow
Bass
- A new setting on the Audio page: Bass, with Original, Reduced and TV speaker
- The psionic powers are heavy in deep bass: Blast carries three quarters of its sound under 160 Hz
- A TV's small speakers played little of it, headphones and subwoofers can play all of it
- Reduced lowers what lies under 80 Hz, TV speaker what lies under 160 Hz
- It changes all of the game's sound: effects, music, voices and movies
- Original plays the sound as before and is the default
Blast under each choice, with sound:
bass.mp4
The loudest second of Blast, the share of its sound under 80 Hz:
| Bass | Under 80 Hz |
|---|---|
| Original | 69% |
| Reduced | 10% |
| TV speaker | 1% |
Mute in the background
- A new setting on the Audio page: Mute in the background
- It silences the game while its window is not in front
- It is off at first
- Mute all audio and the volume are kept as you set them
Sound on its own tab in the game
- The game's menu has an Audio tab, as the launcher has an Audio page
- Master volume and Mute all audio moved there from System
- Bass and Mute in the background are there too
Colours in the launcher
- Section headings in What's new, the Updates window and Help are red, as the settings' group headings
- What a line is about is green, as in the settings' hints
- The release date is grey
- Update available is green
- Lines in the launcher and the game's menu no longer end with a full stop
- A second sentence starts its own line
Fixes
- The far draw distance no longer drops to the console's for a moment while a weapon is switched
- Looking up or down no longer snaps to the horizon while a weapon is switched
- In widescreen a list's name no longer flashes at the screen's edge as the list opens
Save states
The game's code changed in this version
- Save states from 0.5.0 are carried over when the game starts from the launcher
- The original of each is kept in
saves/old-states - A state that does not run here stays with 0.5.0, and the launcher does not try it again
- Capsules from 0.5.0 do not load
- Memory card saves are not affected
