[Memhack] Home
Memhack is an extension that provides direct memory access to game objects and state that are not normally exposed through the game's Lua API.
Memhack works by loading a DLL that reads game memory to locate internal C++ structures and can dynamically scan for memory. It then creates Lua wrappers around these structures, allowing you to read and modify game state that would otherwise be inaccessible. Memhack also supports run time scanning via the scanner.
The extension automatically tracks changes to some of these structures and fires events/hooks when values change, making it easy to respond to game events.
- Seamless integration into the Game objects (like done for the main ItB modding extensions)
- Direct memory access to pilot data, scores, reputation, and storage
- Change tracking for Pilots and Pilot Level Up Skills with automatic hook firing
- Type-safe getters and setters for memory structures
- Parent tracking to maintain object relationships
- Memory Analyzer and Scanner for searching Game memory
- Skill core sync and mech/pilot power core APIs
- Hook priorities
- Events/Hooks - Events/Hooks fired when tracked game objects change
Memhack Struct Manager is a helper class used to generate structs for memhack. It will add and handle creating the Memhack base struct fields and functions which are common to all memhack structs
With the Memhack Struct Manager, the following structs are defined using the Memhack base struct
- Skill Core Sync - keeps bonus cores consistent across load / mission start / end
- State Tracker - set vs memory skill bonus values and change detection
- Constants - Constants used by memhack
This is some other useful stuff included in Memhack that is probably not particularly relevant for an every day modder
- Debug Module - for general debugging tools or useful functions
- Memory Analyzer - (part of debug) for reverse engineering data via comparing states or objects
- DLL Functions - details on the DLL (except scanner) for general use accessing and writing to memory
- Memory Scanner - details on the scanner in the DLL to dynamically scan for data while the game is running
Memhack is a tool and framework to expose data but first the data must be found and identified by a modder. See the finding new data page for a basic overview of some useful tools and methods for searching for new data. See the Search Log for examples and notes on how the data currently in memhack was found
