UnixTree was written by Rob Juergens.
Rob developed UnixTree as a Unix equivalent of the classic DOS file managers ZTree and ZTGOLD, bringing their two-panel tree/file interface to Unix terminal environments. The core program, build system, terminal abstraction layer, resource system, and all original functionality are entirely his work.
The upstream GitHub repository is maintained by dokakod:
This fork (Retro-Jack/UnixTree) is based on that repository. The patches applied here are documented on the Patches Applied page. All credit for the original source belongs to Rob Juergens and dokakod.
UnixTree bundles several third-party libraries as part of its source tree:
- Authors: Jean-loup Gailly and Mark Adler
- Purpose: Data compression support
- License: zlib License
- https://www.zlib.net/
- Author: Ian F. Darwin
- Purpose: File type detection by magic number
- License: BSD

Changes made in this fork are limited to the minimum necessary to compile cleanly with GCC on modern 64-bit systems. No functional changes have been made to the program. See Patches Applied for the full list.
