Bondex Notch 1.1.1
Bondex Notch 1.1.1 brings Gemini CLI to the notch and fixes in-app updates.
Requirements: macOS 14 or later. Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
What's new
- Gemini CLI support. The notch now shows what Gemini CLI is doing, as it does for Claude Code and Codex: thinking, running a command, editing a file. It turns amber with "Needs you" when Gemini asks to approve a tool, has a question, or has a plan for you to review. Set it up with one click in Settings › Widgets › Agent Activity.
- Updates that work. 1.1.0's updater couldn't start, so it never checked for new versions. 1.1.1 fixes that. If an update ever can't be checked, Settings › General › Updates now says why and links here.
- Clearer statuses for Claude Code's web searches, page fetches and to-do lists.
Updating
From 1.1.1 on, new versions arrive in the app. Coming from 1.0.0 or 1.1.0, download this one by hand:
- Quit Bondex Notch from its menu bar item.
- Download Bondex.Notch.dmg below, open it, and drag Bondex Notch into Applications, replacing the old copy.
- Open it. Coming from 1.0.0, macOS asks once more for the permissions you use; from 1.1.0, it remembers them.
First launch
This build is not notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to confirm a new download once:
- macOS 15 and later: open the app and choose Done on the warning. Then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, choose Open Anyway, and confirm.
- macOS 14: Control-click the app in Applications, choose Open, then choose Open again.
- Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Bondex Notch.app"

Bondex Notch 1.1.0
Bondex Notch 1.1.0 can update itself, keeps its permissions across updates, and tells you when a coding agent is waiting for you.
Requirements: macOS 14 or later. Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
What's new
- Updates, built in. From this version on, new releases arrive in the app. On the second launch it asks whether to check automatically, and Settings › General › Updates can change that or check now. An update found in the background waits in the menu bar menu instead of interrupting you. Every update is verified against a key built into the app before it installs.
- Permissions that stay granted. The app is now signed with a stable identity, so macOS keeps your Automation, Downloads, Calendar and clipboard choices across updates instead of asking again each time.
- "Needs you" for coding agents. When Claude Code or Codex stops for a permission prompt, a question or a plan to approve, the notch turns amber and says so. An optional notification follows if it is still waiting after 20 seconds, and long runs can notify you when they finish.
- One-click agent setup. Settings › Widgets › Agent Activity now sets up the Claude Code and Codex hooks itself, spots a setup that is missing events or points at a moved copy of the app, and fixes it with one click. It edits the agent's settings in place and keeps a backup.
- The notch follows your display. It moves to whichever display you're using; Settings › General › "Show the notch on" can keep it on the built-in display instead.
- A first-launch welcome that explains how the notch works and what each feature will ask macOS for, before anything asks.
- The shelf is kept across restarts, and finds files you move or rename.
- Custom keyboard shortcuts. Record any combination for opening the notch, Quick Capture and the Command Palette.
- Clipboard history on macOS 15.4 and later waits for your permission instead of setting off a system alert on every copy. Allow Bondex Notch under Privacy & Security › Paste from Other Apps.
- A faster Agents tab. Usage is cached between launches, so opening it no longer rereads a month of logs.
- A polished notch, with a clearer Home, a redesigned tab strip, smoother motion, and fixes from a full audit of every feature.
Updating from 1.0.0
1.0.0 can't update itself, so this one is a manual download:
- Quit Bondex Notch 1.0.0 from its menu bar item.
- Download Bondex.Notch.dmg below, open it, and drag Bondex Notch into Applications, replacing the old copy.
- Open it. macOS asks once more for the permissions you use, because the signing changed; from now on it remembers them.

Bondex Notch 1.0.0
The first public release of Bondex Notch: a free, open-source (MIT) macOS utility that turns the display notch into a live, Dynamic Island-style surface.
Requirements: macOS 14 or later. Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Install
- Download Bondex Notch.dmg below and open it.
- Drag Bondex Notch into Applications.
- Launch it from Applications.
First launch
This build is not notarized by Apple, so macOS asks you to confirm it once:
- macOS 15 and later: open the app and choose Done on the warning. Then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, choose Open Anyway, and confirm.
- macOS 14: Control-click the app in Applications, choose Open, then choose Open again.
- Terminal:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/Bondex Notch.app"
Because the build is unsigned, macOS may ask again for permissions (Automation, Calendar, Downloads) after future updates.
