Direct Control 0.3.2

Mac and Linux fix release.

Fixed

  • Keyboard and mouse input now work on macOS and Linux. The toggle key (F1), WASD, the run key and the right click camera free look used to only register on Windows, so nothing happened on Mac or Linux. That is fixed now.
  • The run key works with both the left and right Shift key, not just the left one.

Install

Drop DirectControl.dll into your BepInEx/plugins folder and launch the game. Press F1 in Live Mode to toggle direct control (WASD to move).

Big thanks to the players who tested this with me and sent their logs.

A small follow up to 0.3 that smooths out the camera and movement, plus a few annoying bug fixes.

New stuff

  • The camera now follows your Para on its own the moment you turn the mod on, in every camera mode. No more pressing F to recenter, it just sticks to your Para.
  • Movement now works the same in all camera modes. It's camera relative, so W moves away from the camera, A and D strafe sideways, and S walks back toward the camera with your Para turning around. Your Para always turns to face where it's heading. Before this was only in third person, the other modes turned you in place.

Fixed

  • Fixed the cursor getting stuck and hidden in third person. No more force quitting, turning the mod off with F1 frees the mouse again right away.
  • Fixed the cursor being hidden in the ESC pause menu while third person was on, so you can actually click the mod icon now.
  • Fixed the camera getting stuck after toggling the cursor with right click in look mode.
  • Fixed clicking Close in the settings menu sometimes also clicking the world behind it and popping open an interaction window.

Thanks to everyone who reported the camera and cursor issues!

Changelog

0.3

This is a pretty big update, with a lot of new features, improvements, and some things being reworked completely.

New stuff

  • Third person camera is here! Move the camera around with your mouse, and adjust the shoulder side and height however you like.
  • Walk styles can now be changed in the settings. You can pick between different moods like happy, sad, angry, gloomy, and overjoyed, or just leave it on auto or default.
  • A new in game settings menu has been added. You can open it by pressing ESC and clicking the mod icon in the bottom left corner, or by pressing F4.
  • Keybinds are now fully customizable, so AZERTY, QWERTZ, or whatever layout you use should be much easier to set up. Everything saves automatically.
  • Sprinting has been added. You can now choose between jogging and sprinting, and sprint speed can be adjusted with a slider. Sprinting also has a proper running animation now.
  • Added a toggle to disable object fading, so furniture, walls, and other objects stay visible when walking around.

Made better

  • The whole animation system has been reworked from the ground up. Walking, jogging, running, and mood based walk styles should feel much smoother overall.
  • FPS in the city should be a lot better now, since lots are no longer force loaded all the time.
  • Collision has also been improved. You should no longer fall through floors, and walking through doorways should feel much cleaner now.

Experimental

  • Lot loading is now available in the settings, but it's very experimental and turned off by default. Honestly, I don't recommend enabling it right now. It can load stairs and walls when you walk onto a lot, but it may cause FPS issues and other weird behavior. I was honestly just too lazy to remove it before this update, so it's there for anyone who wants to mess around with it. 😅

Removed for now

  • The experimental NPC conversation feature has been removed for now. I want to bring it back later in a much better way.

Have fun with the update, and please let me know if something breaks!
