Dispatch v0.6.2

Choose a tag to compare

@Roqak Roqak released this 25 Oct 00:31
  • New app icon: a mint paper plane, matching the new colours.
  • The sidebar keeps its place. It no longer jumps back to the top when the list refreshes, for example after a sync or a save.
  • Windows builds are back. The Windows build had stopped linking (too many exported symbols); fixed.

Available for macOS, Windows and Linux. Existing installs see an update banner. Mac users on 0.6.1 get a restart after updating; on 0.6.0 or earlier, reopen Dispatch after choosing Update & restart.

The app is unsigned: on first macOS launch, right-click → Open.

Dispatch v0.6.1

Choose a tag to compare

@Roqak Roqak released this 24 Oct 21:19

A quick follow-up to 0.6.0.

  • Faster startup. Rarely used features (runner, mock servers, vault, load tests, request chains, gRPC, the command palette, importers, cookies, the AI assistant, compare and others) now load the first time you open them. The app starts with 27 modules (350 KB) instead of 48 (508 KB).
  • Syntax colours in editors. Request bodies, scripts, examples, gRPC messages, GraphQL variables and AI-written tests are coloured as JSON or JavaScript.
  • Updates that finish themselves. Dispatch now checks for updates every time it starts and every 4 hours while it's open. A banner stays until you install or dismiss it, shows download progress, and restarts the app when it's done. Settings has a Check for updates button and shows the version you're on.
  • New look. The accent colour is now mint, matching the new landing page.
  • More Postman scripts run unchanged. Number methods from Postman's original sandbox (round, ceil, floor, pad and others, from Sugar.js) now work, so shared scripts that call things like (n).round() no longer fail.

macOS only. Windows and Linux stay on v0.5.0 for now. Mac users on 0.5.0 or 0.6.0 get this update in the app. On those versions the prompt comes at most once a day when the app starts, and after Update & restart you need to quit and reopen Dispatch yourself. From 0.6.1 on, the restart happens automatically.

The app is unsigned: on first launch, right-click → Open.

Dispatch v0.6.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Roqak Roqak released this 24 Oct 08:32

The biggest Dispatch release yet: the features Postman users reach for every day, plus several Postman doesn't have.

macOS only for now. Windows and Linux builds for 0.6.0 will follow; until then those installers stay on v0.5.0. Mac users on 0.5.0 get this update in the app.

Requests and responses

  • Examples: listed under each request in the sidebar; open, edit, duplicate, rename or delete them.
  • Code snippets in 15 languages (</> or ⌥⌘C), with variables and auth filled in.
  • Find (⌘F) and JSONPath filtering in responses.
  • Docs: Markdown descriptions for requests, folders and collections, synced with Postman.
  • Timing breakdown: click the response time to see DNS, connect/TLS, first byte and download.
  • Server-Sent Events / NDJSON stream live, with a Stop button.
  • GraphQL: load the schema, get autocomplete and inline checks, and browse it.
  • Compare across environments: send one request to staging and production side by side.
  • gRPC: server reflection or .proto files, JSON messages, unary and server streaming.

Collections and environments

  • Import OpenAPI 3, Swagger 2, Insomnia and HAR files, by file, paste or URL.
  • Collections in Git: save a collection as readable files in a folder; changes from git pull load back in.
  • Mock servers that serve your saved examples on localhost.
  • Vault: {{vault:name}} secrets in the keychain. They never sync, and scripts and snippets never see them.
  • Cookie manager; cookies with an expiry date now survive restarts.
  • Request chain view: which requests set and use which variables, and what's missing.
  • ⌘K command palette, and a searchable workspace picker.

Scripts and runs

  • pm.iterationData, pm.info.iteration, setNextRequest and pm.visualizer now work.
  • Postman's script libraries: cheerio, moment, xml2js, tv4, ajv, csv-parse and Node built-ins via require().
  • Errors inside pm.sendRequest callbacks and timers show as script errors.
  • Command-line runner for CI (node bin/dispatch.mjs run <collection>), with JUnit and JSON reports.
  • Load testing with live p50/p95/p99, error rate and a per-second chart.
  • AI assistant (Claude, your own Anthropic API key): write tests from a response, explain responses and errors, draft requests from a description.

Fixes

  • Saving a request no longer overwrites examples saved elsewhere.
  • In the runner, collection variables now carry over between requests.
  • Stopping a run keeps the results of the requests that already ran.
  • The diff summary counts changed values.

The app is unsigned: on first launch, right-click → Open.

Dispatch v0.5.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Roqak Roqak released this 23 Oct 22:52

v0.5.0 — self-updating, WebSocket, diffing, runner, auth

This is the first build that updates itself: future releases arrive via in-app update download instead of manual re-downloads (signed, verified with this release's key).

  • WebSocket client: / URLs become live connections with an in/out frame log and a message composer instead of one-shot sends.
  • Response diffing: compare a response against saved examples, history, or any other open tab — JSON value diffs with array-order handling, plain-line diffs otherwise.
  • Collection runner: parallel iterations with isolated variable copies; save failed responses as examples; edit data rows inline.
  • OAuth 2.0: real authorization-code sign-in window (incl. PKCE) in addition to client credentials and password grants.
  • Snippets menu with canned pm recipes; per-profile environment defaults; history matches URL and method text.
  • Arena trim after closing tabs keeps RSS honest about what it holds.

macOS: universal DMG for Apple Silicon + Intel (macOS 13+). Windows and Linux bundles below.

Dispatch v0.3.0

@Roqak Roqak released this 23 Oct 13:08

What's new

Variables behave more like Postman. Variables created by a script with pm.environment.set or pm.collectionVariables.set now appear in the collection, environment and globals editors, marked "Not shared yet". Before, they were saved but hidden. Persist current values copies current values into the shared ones so your team gets them when you save, and the collection Variables tab now has Persist and Reset buttons too.

Typing {{ in the URL bar, parameter tables or auth fields suggests variable names along with each one's value and scope. Hovering a field lists where every variable's value comes from, with secret values hidden. Dynamic variables go from 14 to about 100, including {{$randomCity}}, {{$randomIP}} and {{$randomCurrencyCode}}.

Comments in JSON bodies. Dispatch now strips // and /* */ comments from JSON bodies before sending, as Postman does. Previously the comments went to the server and could cause a 400 Bad Request. Beautify formats bodies that contain comments and keeps each comment where you wrote it.

Side-by-side layout. The new button next to Save, or ⌥⌘V, moves the response beside the request. Dispatch remembers the layout and where you left the divider.

Help with API keys. The connect screens walk through creating a Postman API key, with a button that opens Postman's API keys page. The full guide, covering expiry, the EU region and rejected keys, is in docs/postman-api-key.md. The EU region checkbox is back on the welcome screen.

Downloads

Dispatch_0.3.0_universal.dmg runs on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs with macOS 13 or later. The app isn't notarized, so the first time you open it, right-click Dispatch.app and choose Open.

Linux and Windows builds of 0.3.0 aren't available yet. Until they are, use the 0.1.0 release on those platforms.

Dispatch v0.2.0

Choose a tag to compare

@Roqak Roqak released this 23 Oct 12:26

What's new

Dispatch now supports more than one account. Alongside the profile that stays on your device, you can add as many Postman profiles as you need, each with its own API key, region and remembered workspace. Each profile's key is stored separately: in the Keychain on a Mac, and in a file only your user can read on Linux and Windows.

Fixes

Mac builds of the profiles feature failed to compile because of a type error in the code that looks for a key saved by Dispatch 0.1.0. That's fixed.
