OpenRCT2-Access v1.0

Built for OpenRCT2 0.5.5.

New Features and Improvements

  • Updated the mod to work with the latest version of ORCT (5.5).
  • All file dialogues are now accessible.
  • The mod now says which version it is when the game starts.
  • The Delete key now removes one thing at the cursor: a path, a bin or bench, scenery, a fence, a sign, a ride entrance or exit, or a piece of track. When several things share the tile it reads them out and lets you pick with the arrow keys.
  • Streamlined deleting, placing, and interacting with objects. Delete was explain above. Space is now used to place any object: paths, scenery, rides, etc. Enter now interacts: rides, park entrances, etc.
  • Control + shift + up or down arrows now filters between type of objects to jump to: rides and stalls, hazards, scenery, or footpath objects. Control + arrows will then jump to whatever is selected.
  • The multiplayer chat key has moved from C to the slash key. C is the coordinate read-out, so on a server every position check was opening the chat box instead. You can change it back in Options if you prefer.

Installing

  1. Make sure your screen reader is running.
  2. Unzip the download somewhere that is not your OpenRCT2 folder. Your Downloads folder is fine.
  3. Close OpenRCT2 if it is running.
  4. Run Install-OpenRCT2Access.bat. It finds your OpenRCT2, tells you what it is going to change, and asks you to type yes before touching anything.
  5. Launch OpenRCT2 as you normally would.

If it says it cannot write to the folder, close the window, then right-click Install-OpenRCT2Access.bat and choose Run as administrator. That happens when OpenRCT2 is installed under Program Files.

To remove the mod, run Uninstall-OpenRCT2Access.bat.

About your OpenRCT2 version

This download carries the OpenRCT2 0.5.5 game files with it, so it does not matter which version of OpenRCT2 you have — if yours is older, installing brings it up to date at the same time. There is nothing extra to download and nothing to match up. Your saved parks, settings and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 files are not touched; they live outside the game folder.

The one case the installer will not handle is an OpenRCT2 newer than this release. It stops rather than moving your game backwards, since a park saved with a newer version might not open afterwards.

Note that updating OpenRCT2 yourself will remove the mod, because the update replaces the program file the mod lives in. If speech stops working after OpenRCT2 updates, run the installer again.
