Scotch v1.1.0
Scotch 1.1.0
A maintenance release after five months away. This version consolidates every file Scotch writes, actually passes bottle environment into Wine, and adds a one-click uninstall.
Install
Download Scotch.dmg, open it, and drag Scotch into Applications. First launch: right-click → Open → confirm. Scotch still downloads Wine, DXVK, DXMT, and the Zink / D3DMetal / winemac overlays on first run (~500 MB).
Requirements
- macOS 26 Tahoe
- Apple Silicon
- Rosetta 2 (Scotch prompts during setup if missing)
What changed
- All data now lives in one place:
~/Library/Application Support/com.s3brr.Scotch/(runtime, default bottles, settings, logs, winetricks cache). Older~/Library/Containers/com.s3brr.Scotchand~/Library/Logs/com.s3brr.Scotchinstalls are migrated automatically. - Uninstall Scotch in Settings (or
scotch uninstall --all) kills Wine and removes the runtime, leftover folders, caches, CLI symlink, and optionally bottles plus the app itself. - Launches actually use the bottle. Wine.app is started with
open --envplus a launch-env file soWINEPREFIX, DLL overrides, and GPU spoofing reach the Wine process. HostPATH/HOME/TMPDIRare no longer stripped. - Runtime reinstall now replaces only
Libraries/, so bottles and settings survive a Wine/backend update. - DXMT updated to 0.80. Wine stays on Staging 11.6 because the OpenGL
winemac.sooverlay is a byte patch for that build. - New bottles run
wineboot --initbeforewinecfg. Start-menu discovery scans every Wine user, not justcrossover. - Shader cache clear also removes the DXMT cache. Winetricks cache is stored inside the Scotch support folder so uninstall can delete it.
- CLI:
scotch uninstall --all/scotch purge, with--keep-bottlesand--keep-app.
