v26.10.5
Quieter log and a few small fixes.
- Clicking a notification now opens ShareMount: a share notice opens the settings with that share, an update notice opens Updates.
- Short network dropouts are logged as a single line ("Network briefly gone (11 s), back") instead of three or four. "Waiting for Wi-Fi or Ethernet" only appears when the network is gone for more than 30 seconds.
- A change of the router gateway alone (for example IPv4 gone for a moment while IPv6 stays) no longer writes "Network changed" to the log. Mounts are still checked as before.
- Shares with a plain IPv6 address as server (like fe80::1) work now; before, they failed with "Invalid address". Addresses with and without brackets are treated as the same server.
- Shared code for the menu, the updater and the update window now comes from one common source with AgentBar. No visible change.
v26.10.4
New version numbers: from now on ShareMount uses calendar versions, year.month.release of that month. v26.10.4 is the fourth ShareMount release in October 2026; the next month starts again at .1 (e.g. v26.11.1). The jump from v2.5 to v26.10.4 is intended – the update check compares the numbers part by part, so the update is found as usual.
No other changes in this release.
v2.5
Multiple users on one Mac
- ShareMount now only looks at the shares the signed-in user mounted. With fast user switching it no longer shows another user's mounts as connected or tries to unmount them.
- If another user already uses /Volumes/Name, your share is mounted at Name-1 without a warning or a path fix.
- Updates work from any account: if the app belongs to another user, macOS asks for an administrator password. The app keeps its owner.
- When one user installs an update, ShareMount restarts by itself for the other signed-in users. Mounts stay connected.
- While your session is in the background, the update window waits until you switch back.
