Adds the full Latin-1 Supplement letter block to the alphabet, so signs in German, Nordic, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Icelandic no longer lose characters.

129 to 191 glyphs, 258 to 382 props. Colour is still a runtime tint, so the whole palette ships in 382 models and about 8 MB, where baking colour into each model would have meant 3820 and ~65 MB.

Why it matters

Text is filtered against the glyph table before it reaches the world, so an unsupported character was dropped in silence: Bäckerei became Bckerei. The NUI preview renders with the real Montserrat webfont, so the umlaut stayed visible right up until the sign was placed. That gap is closed.

Upgrading

Drop-in. No config or database changes, and existing signs are unaffected: all 129 original glyph metrics are numerically unchanged, so placed signs keep their exact spacing, and none of the original 258 props were rebuilt.

Known tightness

Sign.LINE is 1.35 cap units. Å reaches 1.4114 and the cedilla descends to -0.3414, so a ring capital sitting directly beneath a descender on a multi-row sign can crowd. The set already shipped tighter than its own worst case before this release, and it is left unchanged deliberately, because raising it would re-space every multi-row sign already placed in the world. It is a one-line change in shared/sign.lua if you want more headroom.

Installation

  1. Download sd-signs-v1.1.0.zip below and drop sd-signs into your resources folder.
  2. ensure sd-signs in server.cfg, after ox_lib and oxmysql.
  3. add_ace group.admin sd-signs.build allow

Use the zip rather than a source download, since the NUI is built by CI and packaged into it. A clone of main has no web/build.

Requires ox_lib and oxmysql. No framework needed.

v1.0.0

@Github-Samuel Github-Samuel released this 29 Aug 18:34

3D channel-letter signs for FiveM. Type text into a panel, watch the real sign float in front of you as you tune it, then drag it into place. It stays there, for everyone, across restarts.

The letters are streamed props — one game object per character — so they catch light, cast shadows, have real extruded depth and a dark return down the sides, and you can walk around them.

What's in it

  • 129 glyphs — A–Z, a–z, 0–9 and 67 symbols: punctuation, brackets, currency, arrows, fractions and maths
  • 10 colours, matte or neon, and up to 3 rows per sign
  • Per-letter colour — click any letter in the preview and recolour just that one
  • 5 colour effects — gradient, cycle, wave, chase, pulse — plus spin
  • Size from 0.2 m to 10 m, or up to 120 m with the Ultra toggle
  • Per-sign visibility, up to roughly two miles
  • Walk around the preview — pin the sign, drop the panel and inspect it on foot from any angle
  • Two placement modes — camera aim, or drag handles via the optional object_gizmo
  • Admin overview — every placed sign, with preview, highlight, teleport, edit, delete and delete-all
  • Persists to MySQL with a self-migrating schema. No SQL file to import.

Colour is a tint, not geometry

Both finishes use a GTA tint shader carrying a small palette texture, and the game picks the row per entity:

SetObjectTextureVariation(entity, 7) -- blue, on any glyph

So "red A" and "blue A" are the same streamed model. The whole palette ships in 258 models and about 5 MB, where baking colour into each model would have meant 2580 and ~44 MB — and an animated sign costs no more entities than a static one, because animating is writing an integer rather than swapping objects.

Installation

  1. Download sd-signs.zip below and drop sd-signs into your resources folder.
  2. ensure sd-signs in server.cfg, after ox_lib and oxmysql.
  3. add_ace group.admin sd-signs.build allow
  4. Restart. The table is created on first start.

Use the zip rather than a source download — the NUI is built by CI and packaged into it, so a clone of main has no web/build.

Requires ox_lib and oxmysql. No framework needed.
