Retrospectives
The Sprint Retrospective is a key meeting held at the end of every two-week sprint (on the second Monday). Its purpose is to foster a culture of continuous improvement by reflecting on the past sprint.
The goal is to answer three simple questions about the past two weeks:
- What Worked Well? (Keep doing this!)
- What Didn't Work Well? (Stop doing this or change it!)
- What Will We Do Differently? (Actionable items for the next sprint.)
The retrospective follows a structured process to ensure balanced participation and actionable outcomes.
Before the discussion begins, everyone participates in a silent entry period:
- Add thoughts or notes to the retrospective project board (we have many tags!).
- Focus on process, tools, and communication, not specific people.
- We review all submitted entries as a team.
- Time spent depends on the depth of discussion needed to understand an issue and find a solution.
- The goal is to identify 1-3 actionable items to carry into the next sprint.
Any improvement identified during the review must be converted into a clear, assigned, and trackable action item.
We use the following template structure for our retrospective board/notes:
All historical retrospective notes and action items are tracked in a dedicated repository:
