Retrospectives

The Sprint Retrospective is a key meeting held at the end of every two-week sprint (on the second Monday). Its purpose is to foster a culture of continuous improvement by reflecting on the past sprint.

The Retrospective Goal

The goal is to answer three simple questions about the past two weeks:

  1. What Worked Well? (Keep doing this!)
  2. What Didn't Work Well? (Stop doing this or change it!)
  3. What Will We Do Differently? (Actionable items for the next sprint.)

Retrospective Process

The retrospective follows a structured process to ensure balanced participation and actionable outcomes.

1. Preparation and Placement (5 Minutes)

Before the discussion begins, everyone participates in a silent entry period:

  • Add thoughts or notes to the retrospective project board (we have many tags!).
  • Focus on process, tools, and communication, not specific people.

2. Review and Discussion

  • We review all submitted entries as a team.
  • Time spent depends on the depth of discussion needed to understand an issue and find a solution.
  • The goal is to identify 1-3 actionable items to carry into the next sprint.

3. Action Items

Any improvement identified during the review must be converted into a clear, assigned, and trackable action item.
