DQ8Recomp is an experimental native port of the PlayStation 2 version of Dragon Quest VIII. It translates the game's executable code locally using PS2Recomp and links it with a runtime for the PS2 services the game uses.
The primary target is the NTSC-U release, SLUS_212.07. Field gameplay works in
tested scenes, with sound and, given locally compiled VU programs, at the game's
30 FPS on Apple Silicon. Compatibility beyond the tested scenes remains
unfinished. There is no ready-to-play release.
