Recall for macOS 1.1.11
Save screen clippings and copied images from the clipboard, so screenshots you take with ⌃⇧⌘4 end up in Recall too.
New
- Save screen clippings. Screenshots you take to the clipboard (⌃⇧⌘4, or ⌃⇧⌘3 for the whole screen) are stored as captures.
- Save copied images. Images you copy from apps, such as Copy Image in a browser or ⌘C in Preview, are stored as captures.
- Turn either on in Settings → Capture, under Clipboard. Both are off by default.
Good to know
- Saved images are attributed to the app in front when you copied them, and are read, redacted and analyzed like other screenshots.
- Nothing is saved while recording is paused or when the app in front is excluded.
- A capture's detail panel shows Screen clipping or Copied image so you can tell them apart from window captures.
Install

Recall for macOS 1.1.10
Delete individual screenshots, or a whole session, along with everything Recall learned from them.
New
- Delete a screenshot. Choose Delete Screenshot… in a screenshot's detail panel (the ⋯ menu), or right-click its thumbnail in the timeline or its row in search results.
- Delete a session. Right-click a session in the timeline and choose Delete Session and Screenshots….
Good to know
- Deleting removes the screenshot and thumbnail files, recognized text, AI description, search entries, embeddings and any queued processing. Decrypted images held in memory are dropped too.
- If a session is left with no screenshots, it's removed. Otherwise its AI-written title and summary, which might describe what you deleted, are cleared and regenerated from the remaining screenshots. Titles and summaries you wrote yourself are kept.
- That day's saved daily summary is removed because it could mention the deleted screenshot. Generate it again from Daily Summaries.
- Deleting can't be undone. Each option asks for confirmation first.

Recall for macOS 1.1.9
Fixes a crash when moving around the timeline on macOS 27.
Fixes
- Timeline crash on macOS 27. Navigating the timeline could make Recall quit unexpectedly on macOS 27, most likely on smaller screens such as a MacBook Air. macOS stopped the app because the main window's size limits kept changing while it was working out the layout. The timeline and the screenshot and note panels can no longer change the window's minimum size.
- More room on small screens. The screenshot and note detail panel can now be as narrow as 320 points (previously 380), so it fits beside the timeline and sidebar on a 13-inch display.
Good to know
If Recall still quits while you're using the timeline, open Console → Crash Reports, find the latest RecallForMac report, and send it along with what you clicked just before.

Recall for macOS 1.1.8
A tidier General settings tab, and no more GitHub token.
Fixes
- No GitHub token. Recall's repository is public, so the token field is gone from Settings → General → Updates. Update checks and downloads never send credentials, and a token saved by an earlier version is deleted from your keychain when Recall starts.
- Tidier General tab. Settings are grouped into Startup, Keyboard shortcuts, Updates and Permissions. The shortcuts list now includes ⌃⌥⌘N for a new note, and a failed update check shows its error on its own line instead of being cut off.
- Removed the "Show time zone in timestamps" toggle, which had no effect.
Install
From 1.0.2 or later: Recall offers the update itself, or choose Recall → Check for Updates….
Earlier versions: download RecallForMac-1.1.8.zip, unzip it, and replace RecallForMac.app in Applications.

Recall for macOS 1.1.7
AI agents can now read the files you attach to notes, if you allow it.
New
- Note attachments through MCP. A new
get_note_attachmenttool returns attached images as images, and the text of text, code, CSV, JSON and PDF files. Other file types, such as archives and Office documents, are listed but not shared. - Attachment ids.
get_noteandlist_notesshow an id for each attachment (for example A12) so agents can fetch it.
Good to know
- Off by default. Turn on Allow agents to read note attachments in Settings → Privacy → AI agent access (MCP). It's separate from the screenshot toggle.
- Redaction rules don't apply to attachments; they're shared exactly as you attached them. Whatever an agent reads goes to its AI model, so it leaves your Mac if the agent uses a cloud model.
- Restart your agent after updating so it sees the new tool.

Recall for macOS 1.1.6
Use Apple Intelligence as Recall's AI provider: private, free, and nothing to install.
New
- Apple Intelligence provider. Choose it in Settings → AI. Recall uses Apple's on-device model for session titles and summaries, daily overviews, Ask, and describing screenshots, and Apple's on-device NaturalLanguage embeddings for semantic search. Nothing leaves your Mac, so no approval is needed, and the models are selected for you.
- Clear status. Settings shows whether Apple Intelligence is ready, or why not (turned off, still downloading, unsupported Mac). Until it's ready, AI work waits in the queue without failing.
Good to know
Settings → AI lists how Apple Intelligence compares with other providers when you choose it:
- No screenshot vision. The model reads text only, so screenshots are described from their recognized text and window title; charts, photos and anything OCR misses aren't described.
- Short memory. It reads about 4,000 tokens at a time. Long screens, busy sessions, full days and big Ask questions are shortened in the middle to fit.
- A small model. Summaries and answers are plainer than with larger local or cloud models.
- Simpler semantic search. Apple's embeddings find related wording less reliably than dedicated embedding models, and work best for Latin-alphabet languages. After switching, click Re-embed History so older activity is searchable by meaning.
- Safety guardrails. Apple's model can decline some content; those items are skipped.
- Requirements. macOS 26 Tahoe on Apple silicon with Apple Intelligence turned on. Recall itself still runs on macOS 14 and later with the other providers.
Install
From 1.0.2 or later: Recall offers the update itself, or choose Recall → Check for Updates….

Recall for macOS 1.1.5
Write quick notes about your day from the menu bar, with files attached if you like.
New
- Notes from the menu bar. Type something like "Completed work on the importer" or "Took lunch from 12 to 1" in the new note field and press ⌘↩. The note is saved with the time you save it.
- Attach files and images. The paperclip opens the New Note window, where you can choose files, drop them on the note, or paste a copied file or screenshot. ⌃⌥⌘N opens it from anywhere (also File → New Note…).
- Notes everywhere you look. Notes appear in the timeline between sessions, in a new Notes list in the sidebar, in Search (Ask answers can cite them as N12), and in daily summaries and their AI overview.
- Edit, delete or assign a project from a note's detail panel or its right-click menu. Attachments have Open and Save As….
- AI agents (MCP): new
list_notesandget_notetools, andsearch_historyanddaily_summaryinclude notes. Agents see attachment names and sizes, never their contents.
Good to know
- Attached files are copied into Recall as they are when attached, and encrypted like screenshots (up to 100 MB each). Changes to the original afterwards aren't picked up.
- Open decrypts a temporary copy into a private folder that Recall empties when it starts and quits.
- Automatic cleanup, Delete Range and Delete Last Hour never remove notes. Delete All History does.
- This version updates the library's database. Open Recall once after updating before your AI agent uses it; until then the agent reports that the library needs updating.
Install
From 1.0.2 or later: Recall offers the update itself, or choose Recall → Check for Updates….
Earlier versions: download RecallForMac-1.1.5.zip, unzip it, and replace RecallForMac.app in Applications.
Not notarized: the first time you open a downloaded copy, right-click the app and choose Open.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
SHA-256 (RecallForMac-1.1.5.zip): c45aaa0a7cf20c43ff951d30caedd882ed68e51ade7ca0ef351ed1be931dfd36

Recall for macOS 1.1.4
Lets your AI agent view screenshots through MCP, if you allow it.
New
- Screenshots for AI agents, off by default. A new toggle, Allow agents to view screenshots, sits under Settings → Privacy → AI agent access (MCP). When it's on, agents can use the new
get_screenshottool to see a capture's screenshot. It's useful when the text isn't enough, such as layouts, charts, images, or when you ask to see what was on screen. - Separate from text access. The toggle only appears once agent access itself is on, and turning off agent access blocks screenshots too. With the toggle off, agents get text only, and
get_screenshottells them how you can turn it on.
Good to know
- Images can show more than text. Screenshots can include photos, other people's messages and anything text recognition missed. Like everything an agent reads, they go to the agent's AI model, so they leave your Mac if the agent uses a cloud model.
- Redaction still applies. Sensitive text is blacked out in screenshots before they're saved.
- Screenshots are decrypted in memory only. They're sent as JPEG, scaled to 1600 px on the longest side by default; agents can request up to 2560 px or the thumbnail.
- If macOS asks whether Recall may use its keychain key when an agent first fetches a screenshot, choose Always Allow.
- Restart your agent, or reconnect Recall in it, after updating so it sees the new tool.
Install
- From 1.0.2 or later: use Check for Updates… in the app menu, then Install and Relaunch.
- From an earlier version: download
RecallForMac-1.1.4.zip, unzip it, and replaceRecallForMac.appin /Applications. Your history and settings carry over.
Not notarized. Manual downloads are signed with a Developer ID but not notarized, so macOS may block the first launch. Right-click the app → Open, or allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.

Recall for macOS 1.1.3
Fixes AI agents telling you that Recall doesn't store screenshots.
Fixes
- AI agents now know captures include screenshots. Recall's MCP server described captures as text only and said screenshots "aren't available", so agents concluded Recall keeps no screenshots. It now explains that every capture has a screenshot, stored encrypted on your Mac, and that by design only text is shared with agents.
- Capture details mention the screenshot.
get_capturenow lists the screenshot's size and tells you where to view it in Recall (the Timeline at that time).
Screenshots are still never sent to agents. Restart your agent, or reconnect Recall in it, after updating so it picks up the new instructions.
Install
- From 1.0.2 or later: use Check for Updates… in the app menu, then Install and Relaunch.
- From an earlier version: download
RecallForMac-1.1.3.zip, unzip it, and replaceRecallForMac.appin /Applications. Your history and settings carry over.
Not notarized. Manual downloads are signed with a Developer ID but not notarized, so macOS may block the first launch. Right-click the app → Open, or allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.

Recall has an app icon.
New
- App icon. Recall now has its own icon in Finder, Launchpad, System Settings and the app switcher, replacing the generic placeholder.
- The Software Update and Welcome windows show the icon too. The menu bar icon is unchanged, so it still shows whether Recall is recording.
Install
- From 1.0.2 or later: use Check for Updates… in the app menu, then Install and Relaunch.
- From an earlier version: download
RecallForMac-1.1.2.zip, unzip it, and replaceRecallForMac.appin /Applications. Your history and settings carry over.
Not notarized. Manual downloads are signed with a Developer ID but not notarized, so macOS may block the first launch. Right-click the app → Open, or allow it in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Finder caches icons, so the old one may linger briefly after updating.
Requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later.
