Arc Flow v0.2.5

Dictation that works in more places

Better Windows app compatibility

  • Text insertion now works in the native WhatsApp and WhatsApp Beta apps from the Microsoft Store.
  • WhatsApp Web and other browser text fields continue to work as before.
  • Compatibility is detected from the active text surface instead of relying on an application name.
  • Read-only text and ordinary controls remain protected from accidental insertion.
  • If an app still cannot accept the paste, your transcript stays available to copy instead of disappearing.

Hotkeys that stay dependable

Ctrl + Win works consistently

  • The global hotkey toggle now works even while Arc Flow is the focused application.
  • Hotkey processing runs away from the Windows hook callback, keeping keyboard and mouse input responsive.
  • Native hooks recover automatically if Windows cannot install them on the first attempt.
  • When another app already owns a shortcut, Arc Flow now explains which shortcut is unavailable in the app and in Settings.
  • Turning hotkeys off genuinely releases them to other applications, including after a restart.

Updates without restarting

New versions arrive while Arc Flow is running

  • Arc Flow checks for updates in the background, even while it is hidden in the notification tray.
  • Optional updates appear through the update icon as soon as they are available.
  • Mandatory updates bring Arc Flow forward and show the required update screen.
  • Temporary connection problems retry automatically without creating duplicate update checks.

Clearer Dynamic Island messages

Long warnings are easier to read

  • Messages that do not fit in the island now expand into a detailed notification card.
  • Detailed cards include a clear title and a close button.
  • They close automatically after 10 seconds.
  • Hovering over a card, or focusing it with the keyboard, pauses the timer so nothing disappears while you are reading.
  • Recording controls remain visible below warnings, so you can always stop or cancel dictation.
  • Standalone warnings never display a false listening waveform.

Stability and everyday polish

  • Your previous dictation history now appears as soon as Home opens after an update.
  • A brief startup delay can no longer leave Home looking empty until you visit another section.
  • Home retries only when its first history load fails or needs confirmation, keeping background work minimal.
  • Overlay recovery now stops cleanly during application shutdown.
  • Windows accessibility resources are released correctly after text-field checks.
  • Shortcut conflicts and fallback behavior are visible instead of failing silently.
  • Background update and hook workers remain idle when there is no work, keeping Arc Flow lightweight.

Arc Flow v0.2.4

Safer sessions. Updates you can trust.

Dictation stays with the right session

  • Rapid hotkey presses no longer mix Normal, Command, or Notes sessions.
  • Stopping during microphone startup now cancels cleanly.
  • Switching windows while speaking will not send an older result to the new target.
  • Late events from a finished session are ignored instead of changing the current island state.

More dependable Command Mode

  • Arc Flow now confirms that selected text was actually copied before processing it.
  • An empty selection can no longer reuse older clipboard text by mistake.
  • Slow applications get a little more time to complete the copy.
  • Your original clipboard content is restored when Arc Flow finishes.

Better clipboard protection

  • Paste operations are coordinated so overlapping sessions cannot interfere with each other.
  • Arc Flow retries when another app briefly holds the clipboard.
  • Anything you copy during insertion is left untouched.
  • If insertion fails, your transcript remains available instead of showing a false success.

A steadier dictation island

Clear state, even during fast actions

  • Ctrl + Win feedback no longer replaces an active recording, processing state, error, or copy popup.
  • Old timers and events cannot hide or overwrite a newer session.
  • Empty AI cleanup responses now fall back to your original transcript, so your words are never lost.

A more reliable updater

Mandatory updates are harder to miss

  • Arc Flow now respects the minimum supported version as well as the mandatory-update flag.
  • A required update brings the main window forward, even when Arc Flow is running from the tray.
  • Update checks retry automatically after temporary connection problems.
  • A visible status lets you retry when Arc Flow cannot reach the update service.

Easier support and diagnostics

  • Your exact build number now appears at the top of Help.
  • Settings > Debug shows the same build number and includes it in copied diagnostics.
  • Every new app log starts with the installed build version, making issue reports easier to identify.
  • Logs rotate automatically when the app updates or the file grows too large.

Small fixes, calmer everyday use

  • Home history refreshes after a transcript is copied from the no-target popup.
  • Update checks are shared across the app to avoid duplicate background requests.
  • Session and clipboard safeguards run only when needed, keeping Arc Flow light while idle.

Arc Flow v0.2.3

@StormSplits StormSplits released this 14 Jul 03:43

Arc Flow v0.2.3

More control. More natural dictation.

Pause snippets anytime

  • A new On / Off switch sits beside the Snippets heading.
  • Turn it off when you want plain dictation. Your snippets stay saved.
  • Turn it back on whenever you need them. It is on by default.

Smarter snippet insertion

  • Smart snippets now read the sentence before deciding to insert.
  • Always keeps the classic macro behavior for dedicated trigger phrases.
  • Links, addresses, and signatures are inserted exactly as saved.
  • Repeated and overlapping triggers are handled safely.
  • Smart snippet values stay local during normal cleanup.

Greetings that match your moment

  • Home now greets you with 25 short messages across late night, morning, afternoon, evening, and night.
  • The greeting stays steady while you move around the app.
  • Keep the app open across a time boundary and it changes naturally.
  • Add your name in Settings for a more personal hello.

Smoother everyday use

Lists only when you ask

  • Everyday sentences stay as sentences.
  • Say "list," "points," or count items out when you want bullets.

Better Hinglish support

  • Choose Hinglish (Roman script) for mixed Hindi and English speech.
  • Hindi is transcribed first, then written in familiar Roman script.
  • Arc Flow now explicitly asks Whisper to transcribe, not translate.

A more reliable dictation island

  • The island now returns to the front every time it appears.
  • Old timers can no longer hide a new dictation session.
  • If text cannot be inserted, Arc Flow shows a copy option instead of a false success.

Clearer hotkey status

  • The toggle toast stays visible above other windows.
  • Home shows a small notice while hotkeys are off.
  • Re-enable them anytime with Ctrl + Win.

Faithful cleanup

  • Cleanup is less likely to add warnings, advice, or unwanted softening.
  • Your words stay yours, even when the subject is blunt, dark, or sensitive.

Arc Flow v0.2.2

Choose a tag to compare

@StormSplits StormSplits released this 09 Jul 19:32

⚠️ Mandatory update

This release is required — Arc Flow will show a full-screen prompt and
ask you to install it before you can keep dictating. This update includes
reliability fixes that affect everyone, so we're rolling it out as
mandatory rather than optional.

What's New

Release notes, right in the app — the update icon and the mandatory
update screen now show a real "what's new" for every release, before you
install it.

Feedback, bug reports, and feature requests — Help now has real forms
for Send Feedback, Report a Bug, and Suggest a Feature (no more only-email).
Settings → Privacy can also list your saved local crash reports and let you
send one yourself — nothing is ever sent automatically.

Fixes

  • Dictation island reliability — fixed the dictation island sometimes
not appearing after the app sits idle for a while, even though dictation
itself kept working. Arc Flow now checks on it periodically in the
background and silently repairs it if needed — no more needing to
    restart the app.
  • Cleaner updates — fixed a brief command-window flash (showing raw
network output) that could appear right after an update finished
    installing.
  • Microphone — fixed the onboarding microphone check failing when a
previously selected device was no longer connected (it now falls back to
your system's default microphone); fixed an internal loop on the
microphone setup screen that could repeatedly hit the settings store in
    the background.
  • Cloud AI providers — fixed Groq requests failing outright due to a
reasoning-mode setting most models didn't support; removed a
decommissioned Groq model from the picker and fixed the GPT-OSS 120B
model id; fixed DeepSeek requests going to the wrong API path.

Improvements

  • Onboarding's hotkey guide now correctly explains that the Ctrl+Win toggle
needs to be held for about a second, not just tapped.
