@StreamDek StreamDek released this 19 Oct 10:43

StreamDek TV v0.4.1

Much smaller updates, and a card menu that answers the moment you hold OK.

Improvements

Much smaller updates
StreamDek TV is now published in a version for each kind of device, and from this release the app
downloads only the one built for yours. An update drops from about 173 MB to about 55-57 MB on most
TVs and streaming sticks, Fire TV included. Nothing is left out: every player, codec and feature is in
every version.

Hold OK for a card's menu
Hold OK on a card and its menu now opens while you are still holding, instead of waiting for you to let
go. As you hold, the card settles back and a ring traces its edge, so you can see the menu is coming;
let go early and it is an ordinary click. The menu then rises into place with its actions arriving one
after another. The Menu key on your remote still opens it straight away.

No more accidental clicks
Letting go of OK after opening a menu used to press its first action, which could start playback or
remove something you did not mean to. The release is now ignored, in card menus and in the menus on a
title page, such as an episode's.

Android TV emulators and x86 boxes
StreamDek TV now installs on x86_64 devices, such as Android TV emulators and some PC-based boxes.

Pause CloudStream extensions without removing them
The new Enable CloudStream extensions switch lets you temporarily stop their catalogs,
search results and streams together. Your installed extensions, collections, settings and
individual source switches are kept, ready to use again when you turn it back on.

Updated TheIntroDB support
Timing lookups and API-key checks now use TheIntroDB API V4, including its updated title and
episode identification. Your existing TheIntroDB key continues to use the same saved setup.

Consistent skip timings across players
ExoPlayer, MPV and libVLC now use the same rules for intro, recap and ending timings. Duplicate or
invalid timings are filtered out, and endings marked as running to the end use the known runtime.

Clearer Plex setup guidance
Plex setup now explains its remote-streaming requirements. Choose Learn more to display a
QR code you can scan with your phone to read the official guidance.

Good to Know

  • This update is a larger download than later ones: v0.4.0 doesn't know about per-device versions, so
it fetches the version that suits every device. From the next update on, you get the small one.
  • Downloading by hand? Get StreamDek TV only from
    github.com/StreamDek/StreamDek-Releases. The
release page says which file suits which device; if you're not sure, choose the universal APK.

StreamDek TV v0.4.0

Emby joins Plex and Jellyfin, StreamDek can now reach for your own servers first when you press
Play, and Search tells you where every result comes from.

What's New

Emby on your TV
Connect your own Emby server and its films and series join Home, Search and the media page, beside
Plex and Jellyfin. Servers on your network are found by themselves, or enter the address you use in
your browser. Sign in with your Emby username and password, or with Emby Connect to pick from
the servers linked to your emby.media account without typing an address with the remote. Your
passwords are used once and never kept.

  • Add more than one Emby server, switch servers and libraries on or off, and choose whether Emby's
in-progress titles also appear in StreamDek's Continue Watching.
  • Your Emby setup follows your profile to your phone and the web portal.

Prefer Media Server Source
A new setting in Settings > Streams and Quality. Turn it on and, when you press Play without
choosing a source, StreamDek looks to your own Plex, Jellyfin and Emby servers first:

  • Direct Play from your servers first, then Direct Stream, then the best source from your
add-ons and plugins. A server copy that would need converting is kept for choosing by hand.
  • A copy that plays well on this TV beats a bigger one that would not: a 1080p file that plays
directly is picked over a 4K file that needs converting.
  • The stream list follows the same order in every filter tab, so what plays automatically is the
    first source you see.
  • A source you chose yourself, or asked StreamDek to remember, still comes first.

Search, sorted by source
Results now arrive in one section per place they were found: each of your Plex, Jellyfin and Emby
servers, StreamDek's catalogue, each add-on and each plugin. Every section is headed with its name,
what kind of source it is and how many results it found, and your own servers' sections carry the
service's mark so your copies stand out from across the room.

  • Long sections show two rows to begin with. Move onto Show all beside the heading to see the
rest, and Show less to fold them away again.
  • A title found in several places is offered from each, so you can choose which one to play.
  • The Everything, Movies, Series and Live filters still work, inside every section.

App Font
A new choice in Settings > Appearance > Typography. Keep your TV's own font, which is the
default, or switch to StreamDek Sans, StreamDek's own typeface, drawn in six real weights for
crisp, even text from across the room. Each option is previewed in its own font, and your choice
follows your account to your phone.

Improvements

Your servers' copies, everywhere
A film or episode in StreamDek's catalogue now also lists the copies on your own servers among its
sources, and a title opened from your server lists your add-on sources too. Whichever you play,
your progress is saved to your server as well as to StreamDek.

Continue Watching where you want it
Choose for Plex, Jellyfin and Emby apart whether titles you are part-way through appear only on the
server's own page or also in StreamDek's Continue Watching.

Resuming from your servers
Resuming a title from Continue Watching now asks your server for a fresh link every time, so titles
that stalled on resume start playing again.

The media page remembers where you were
Coming back to the Plex, Jellyfin or Emby page from a title, another page or the menu now returns
you to the same row and card instead of the top of the page.

Your server order, from your phone
The order you put your servers and libraries in on the StreamDek phone app now carries to your TV.
Settings lists your Plex, Jellyfin and Emby servers in that order, and the media page shows each
server's rows, and each library's rows within it, in the same order.

More sources for more titles
Titles that add-ons could not look up from the TV now find their sources there too, so the TV lists
the same add-on sources as your phone.

Every version on a Plex server
When a Plex server holds more than one version of a title, each is now offered, so a version that
plays directly on this TV is never hidden behind one that does not.

Smarter Dolby Vision handling
A Dolby Vision file that only plays correctly with a Dolby Vision decoder is no longer played
directly on a TV without one, so it does not play with the wrong colours. Plex sources now show
Dolby Vision, HDR10 or HLG, as Jellyfin and Emby already did.

Cards that match their add-on
Home rows and StreamDek Fuse catalogs from add-ons and plugins now show their cards in the shape the
add-on asks for, poster, square or landscape, and fit logos and transparent artwork instead of
cropping them.

Lighter on your network, quieter on standby
Home still picks up progress from your other devices every few seconds, but no longer reloads every
add-on row each time; rows refresh every 15 minutes, when you come back to Home after a few
minutes away, or when you change your add-ons or layout. Home, handoff and settings checks now
pause while the TV is on standby or another app is open, and if StreamDek's servers ask the TV to slow down it waits as asked,
showing what it already has, instead of asking again straight away. Rows load a few at a time, so
Home stays responsive on busy add-on setups.

More accurate Plex and Jellyfin search
Results from your own servers now only include titles that actually match what you searched for.
Plex also returns titles linked to a search through an actor, a genre or what it considers related,
and those used to appear as matches - searching "Euphoria" could list Tracker, Supergirl and
Hoppers. Matching ignores capitals, accents and punctuation, so "amelie" finds "Amélie" and
"spiderman" finds "Spider-Man", and one typo in a longer word is forgiven.

Reaching a Plex server at home
Some routers block the secure address Plex gives for your home network, which could leave a server
in the same room unreachable and make it look as if it could not be added. StreamDek now also tries
the server's plain local address on your home network when the secure one cannot be reached.

Behind the scenes
For StreamDek Ultra sources, StreamDek now notes whether playback started successfully, so a
provider that has stopped working can be spotted and fixed sooner. Server links are no longer kept
in the TV's local storage once a title has played.

Quick Setup

  • Emby: open Settings > Emby, pick your server from the list or enter its address, then sign
in with your username and password or with Emby Connect.
  • Prefer Media Server Source: open Settings > Streams and Quality and switch it on. It is off
until you do, so playback works as before.
  • Continue Watching location: open Settings > Plex, Jellyfin or Emby and choose where
    that server's in-progress titles appear.
  • App Font: open Settings > Appearance > Typography and pick your TV's own font or
    StreamDek Sans.
  • Server order: arrange your servers and libraries in the StreamDek phone app's media server
    settings; your TV follows.
  • Search: nothing to set up. Move onto Show all beside a section's heading to see everything
    it found.
  • Plex at home: nothing to set up. If your Plex server still cannot be reached, open its settings
on the server and check that Secure connections is set to Preferred rather than
    Required.

Good to Know

  • Emby has no Quick Connect, so sign in with your password or Emby Connect. A server added through
Emby Connect must be reachable from your TV.
  • With Prefer Media Server Source on, StreamDek waits a few seconds at most for your servers when
you press Play. A server that is slow or offline is skipped, and your add-ons and plugins play
    instead.
  • A Dolby Vision file with no HDR10 layer is converted by your server on a TV without a Dolby Vision
decoder, unless your player is set to MPV.
  • A title in your Plex library that only matches your search by its cast or genre no longer appears
under Plex in Search. Search by its title to find it.
  • Plex servers set to Required secure connections will not accept the plain local address.
  • StreamDek Sans covers Latin text. Other scripts and emoji appear in your TV's own font.
  • A new add-on catalog or a change made by the add-on itself can take up to 15 minutes to appear on
Home. Leaving Home for a few minutes and coming back, or changing the add-on, refreshes it
    sooner.
  • Your server order is set on the phone, which needs its latest update. An order you set before
that update reaches your TV the first time the updated phone app opens.

@StreamDek StreamDek released this 19 Oct 10:35

StreamDek Mobile v2.2.5

Meet Fleeks, a new way to discover what to watch through full-screen trailers. Downloads are
smaller, more of them work, and they keep going when you leave the app.

What's New

StreamDek Fleeks
Swipe vertically through trailers, explore categories and your own catalogs, check ratings and
comments, and save titles to your watchlist. Tap Watch Now to choose a stream or episode.

Enable it in Settings → Appearance → StreamDek Fleeks. Fleeks takes the place of the Search tab;
the search icon at the top opens Classic Search whenever you need it.

Make Fleeks your own
Choose autoplay, Wi-Fi-only autoplay or muted previews. Use Poster Mode to browse with
full-screen artwork instead of trailers, hide the bottom navigation for a more immersive view,
or let the title details shrink while a trailer plays.

Change the trailer's framing in a tap
The scaling icon beside the sound control cycles through Whole picture, Cinematic and
Fill screen, without restarting the trailer. Your choice carries over to the next title.
The icon stays hidden in Poster Mode.

Fleeks controls where you want them
Choose Top Header or Right Side for the navigation controls in Fleeks settings. Category
selection and Search stay at the top, and the side controls leave room for the title details and
bottom actions. Home and Settings appear in the controls when the bottom navigation is hidden.

Title-page trailers on Wi-Fi only
Under Settings → Title Pages → Trailers, turn on Autoplay trailers on Wi-Fi only to keep
automatic title-page trailers off mobile data. Automatic playback stops if the active connection
leaves Wi-Fi, while trailers you choose to play remain available. The setting is off by default,
is remembered for your profile on this phone, and is separate from Fleeks autoplay.

Improvements

Pause CloudStream extensions without removing them
The new Enable CloudStream extensions switch lets you temporarily stop their catalogs,
search results and streams together. Your installed extensions, collections, settings and
individual source switches are kept, ready to use again when you turn it back on.

Updated TheIntroDB support
Timing lookups and API-key checks now use TheIntroDB API V4, including its updated title and
episode identification. Your existing TheIntroDB key continues to use the same saved setup.

Consistent skip timings across players
ExoPlayer, MPV and libVLC now use the same rules for intro, recap and ending timings. Duplicate or
invalid timings are filtered out, and endings marked as running to the end use the known runtime.

Clearer Plex setup guidance
Plex setup now explains its remote-streaming requirements and includes a Learn more link to
the official guidance.

More reliable Fleeks browsing
Improved loading when opening Search from Fleeks or changing catalogs and filters. Search keeps
your query and selection when you return to the feed, and shows a loading state while results
are still arriving.

Fewer empty artwork pages
Fleeks now tries alternative posters and backdrops when its preferred artwork is missing or fails
to load. If a title has neither usable artwork nor a playable trailer, it is skipped for that
session. Existing artwork stays visible while a better image loads.

Cleaner controls and trailer transitions
Trailers appear only after a video frame has rendered, and playback pauses during swipes.
The bottom controls share one compact row, with space kept beside Watch Now. On smaller
screens, secondary actions move into More. That menu now has StreamDek icons, shorter labels
and a subtly translucent background. Reduced-motion transitions and background cleanup have
also been improved.

Streams download properly
Some streams used to "finish" in a second, leaving a tiny download with nothing to play. StreamDek
now works out what kind of stream a source is before it starts, so these download in full and play
offline like any other.

Smaller, faster stream downloads
When a source offers the same title in several qualities, StreamDek now downloads just one: the best
your phone can play. Every audio language and subtitle comes with it, so you can still switch
between them offline. Downloads that used to take several times the space now take a fraction of it.

More sources can be downloaded
Sources that play fine but used to fail when downloaded, because their servers expect to be asked in
a particular way, now download too.

Links that expire
Some sources hand out links that only last a short while. StreamDek now gets a fresh link before a
download starts, when you resume one that has been paused for a while, and once more if a download
fails because its link expired. It only ever continues with the same file you chose.

Downloads keep going
Downloads carry on when you leave the Downloads page, switch apps or lock your phone. If StreamDek is
closed or your phone restarts part-way through, unfinished downloads pick up again, with their
notification, the next time you open the app.

Know why a download failed
A failed download now says why: the link expired, the source refused it, the connection dropped or
your phone ran out of space. Tap Try again right there in Downloads. The notification says why too.

Good to Know

  • Sources that are copy-protected can only be streamed, so they no longer offer Download.
  • Android 15 and later give apps about six hours a day of background downloading. If you reach that,
downloads pause and carry on by themselves the next time you open StreamDek. Nothing already
    downloaded is lost.
  • A fresh link can only be fetched from add-ons. Downloads from plugins keep the link they started with;
if one expires, start the download again from the title.
  • Downloading by hand? Get StreamDek only from
    github.com/StreamDek/StreamDek-Releases. If
you're not sure which file suits your phone, choose the universal APK.

StreamDek Mobile v2.2.4

Shape the sound of whatever you're watching with the new Audio Enhancer, and download films and
episodes straight from your own Plex, Jellyfin and Emby servers.

What's New

Audio Enhancer
Open the Audio menu while something is playing and switch to the new Audio Enhancer tab.
Pick a preset (Dialogue Boost, Bass Boost, Balanced or Night Mode) or make your own:

  • Volume & clarity: lift quiet dialogue, even out the jump between quiet scenes and loud
ones, or add up to +6 dB when a title is mixed too quietly.
  • Equaliser: five bands to tune the sound to your speakers or headphones.

Your settings are remembered on this phone. Surround soundtracks such as 5.1 keep all their
channels, and a built-in limiter stops loud moments from distorting.

Downloads from your media servers
Movies and individual episodes from your Plex, Jellyfin and Emby servers can now be downloaded
like anything else. Use the download button on the title, then watch it offline from Downloads,
with the same progress, pause, resume and retry you already know. StreamDek downloads the original
file, so you get the server's full quality with its built-in subtitles and audio tracks.

Improvements

A tidier Audio menu
Audio tracks and the Audio Enhancer now sit on their own tabs, which stay in place while you
scroll, and every switch row is easier to tap.

Safer server downloads
Downloads respect what your server allows. If the server owner hasn't enabled downloads for your
account, StreamDek tells you so instead of failing quietly. Your server sign-ins stay encrypted on
your phone and are only ever sent to that server.

Good to Know

  • The full Audio Enhancer works with the Media3 player, which the Auto player setting
    starts with.
With libVLC, the presets and equaliser work but volume boost, Night Mode and
volume-difference reduction don't. With mpv the enhancer isn't available yet, and the
    Audio menu says so.
  • The enhancer can't change protected (DRM) playback or audio passed straight through to an
    external amplifier or soundbar.
  • Server downloads need a single-file original. Plex items split into several parts, and titles
your server can only stream by converting them, can't be downloaded yet. Subtitles stored as
separate files on the server still play only while you're online.
  • Downloading by hand? Get StreamDek only from
    github.com/StreamDek/StreamDek-Releases. If
you're not sure which file suits your phone, choose the universal APK.

StreamDek Mobile v2.2.3

Updates are now about a third of the size, you can export downloads to your phone, and scanning
your TV's code works on every phone.

What's New

Export downloads
Hold down a finished download and choose Export download to save a copy to a folder you pick on
your phone. Downloads in streaming formats stay inside StreamDek and keep playing offline there as
before.

Improvements

Much smaller updates
StreamDek is now published in a version for each kind of phone, and from this release the app
downloads only the one built for yours. A typical update drops from about 194 MB to about 64 MB.
Nothing is left out: every player, codec and feature is in every version.

Scan your TV's code on any phone
Linking StreamDek TV by QR code now uses a scanner built into StreamDek, so it works on phones
without Google services too. The first time you scan, StreamDek asks for access to your camera.

Chromebooks and emulators
StreamDek now installs on x86_64 devices, such as Chromebooks and Android emulators.

Good to Know

  • This update is a larger download than later ones: v2.2.2 doesn't know about per-phone versions,
so it fetches the version that suits every phone. From the next update on, you get the small one.
  • Downloading by hand? Get StreamDek only from

Emby joins Plex and Jellyfin, StreamDek can reach for your own servers first when you press Play,
and you can now choose the font StreamDek is set in. Add-ons, title pages and StreamDek Fuse are
quicker and tidier too.

What's New

Emby
Connect your own Emby server and its films and series join Home, Search and the media page, beside
Plex and Jellyfin. Servers on your network are found by themselves, or enter the address you open
Emby at in a browser. Sign in with your Emby username and password, or with Emby Connect to pick
from the servers linked to your emby.media account. Your emby.media password is used once and never
kept.

  • Add more than one Emby server, switch libraries on or off, and choose whether Emby's in-progress
titles also appear in StreamDek's Continue Watching.
  • Emby is kept with your StreamDek profile, so your other devices and your TV get your servers too.
  • The Emby page has its own soft green glow, which you can switch off like Plex's and Jellyfin's.

Prefer Media Server Source
A new setting. Turn it on and, when you press Play without choosing a source, StreamDek looks to
your own Plex, Jellyfin and Emby servers first:

  • Direct Play from your servers first, then Direct Stream, then the best source from your
add-ons and plugins. A server copy that would need converting is kept for choosing by hand.
  • A copy that plays well on this phone beats a bigger one that would not.
  • A source you chose yourself, or asked StreamDek to remember, still comes first.

App Font
Choose the typeface StreamDek uses everywhere in Settings > Appearance and Language >
Typography
. Keep your phone's own font, which is the default, or switch to StreamDek Sans,
StreamDek's own clean, modern typeface, drawn in six real weights. Each option is previewed in its
own font, the change applies straight away, and your choice follows your account to your other
devices and your TV.

In-App Action Notifications
A new switch under Notifications in Settings > Appearance and Language. It is off, so the
small confirmations for routine actions - refreshing content, managing your media servers, updating
settings - no longer pop up every time. Turn it on to see them again. Errors, and anything that needs
you to act, are always shown.

Improvements

Your servers' copies, everywhere
A film or episode from StreamDek's catalogue now also lists the copies on your own servers among its
sources, and a title opened from your server lists your add-on sources too. Whichever you play, your
progress is saved to your server as well as to StreamDek.

Continue Watching where you want it
Choose for Plex, Jellyfin and Emby apart whether titles you are part-way through appear only on the
server's own page or also in StreamDek's Continue Watching row.

Your server order, on every device
The order you put your servers and libraries in now follows your profile to your other phones and
to your TV, instead of staying on this device.

Resuming from your servers
Resuming a title from Continue Watching now asks your server for a fresh link every time, so titles
that stalled on resume start playing again.

The media page remembers where you were
Coming back to the Plex, Jellyfin or Emby page from a title or another tab now returns you to the
same place instead of the top of the page.

Every version on a Plex server
When a Plex server holds more than one version of a title, each is now offered, so a version that
plays directly on this phone is never hidden behind one that does not.

Your servers in the navigation bar
With more than one kind of media server connected, the media tab now shows each service's mark
together - two side by side, or three in a cluster - so you can tell at a glance what it opens.

Cards that match their add-on
Home rows and StreamDek Fuse catalogs from add-ons and plugins now show their cards in the shape the
add-on asks for - poster, square or landscape.

StreamDek Fuse keeps your place
Coming back to StreamDek Fuse after watching a live channel now returns you to the catalog and view
you were on, instead of starting again.

Quicker add-on changes
Removing an add-on, or taking it out of your favourites, now happens the moment you tap instead of
after a long wait.

Quicker title pages
A title's details from your add-ons and from TMDB are now fetched together rather than one after the
other, and titles you opened recently open straight away.

A backdrop for every title
Holding down a card for a title with no artwork now shows a soft, blurred ambient background behind
its actions, instead of a plain one. A card with no artwork at all shows the title's first letter.

Quick Setup

  • Emby: open Settings > Sources > Emby, pick your server from the list or enter its address,
then sign in with your username and password or with Emby Connect.
  • Prefer Media Server Source: switch it on in Settings. It is off until you do, so playback works
    as before.
  • Continue Watching location: open Settings > Sources > Plex, Jellyfin or Emby and
choose where that server's in-progress titles appear.
  • App Font: Settings > Appearance and Language > Typography.
  • In-App Action Notifications: Settings > Appearance and Language > Notifications.

Good to Know

  • Emby has no Quick Connect, so sign in with your password or Emby Connect. A server added through
Emby Connect must be reachable from your phone.
  • With Prefer Media Server Source on, StreamDek waits a few seconds at most for your servers when
you press Play. A server that is slow or offline is skipped, and your add-ons and plugins play
    instead.
  • Your TV follows your server order from StreamDek TV v0.4.0. An order you set before this update
reaches your other devices the first time this version opens.
  • StreamDek Sans covers Latin text. Other scripts and emoji appear in your phone's own font.
