🎉 New: Chat beside the video in landscape

In landscape, chat can sit beside the video in a column you can resize, and
the system bars stay out of the way while you watch. Your atmosphere can stay
on your profile without painting behind your chat.

✨ Features

  • Chat beside the video. In landscape, chat can sit beside the video in a column you can resize, on whichever side you set for chat. The width and side settings apply to both landscape layouts.
  • Keep your atmosphere out of chat. A switch under your atmospheres on the Cosmetics screen keeps your atmosphere on your profile without painting it behind your chat messages.
  • Your Twitch Recap hours count. The hours Twitch Recap recorded before you joined StreamNook are added to the hours watched on your StreamNook profile, with nothing to set up.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • No system bars while you watch. The status and navigation bars stay hidden in every landscape layout, and they no longer flash back when you switch layouts.
  • Readable chat on bright atmospheres. The frost behind messages is stronger, and deeper still on phones, so text stays readable over washes like Midnight.
  • Badges in chat order. The StreamNook badge sits after your other badges on profiles, the same as in chat.
  • Drops you actually received. A drop Twitch accepts but never grants, such as one that needs a linked game account, is no longer shown as claimed. StreamNook tries it again every hour.

🎉 New: Subscribe from your phone

Subscribe to Twitch and Kick channels without leaving the app, hide chat on a
tablet to watch full screen, and see more of your drops in Rewards.

✨ Features

  • Subscribe from your phone. A Subscribe button sits beside the channel name on the player, and the chat menu has a Subscribe row under Follow, in Kick rooms too. Once you're subscribed it shows your sub badge and offers Gift Subs. It opens Twitch's or Kick's own checkout.
  • More drops in Rewards. Drops that take several days, subscription rewards and mystery rewards like the Poké Balls show up with Twitch's own progress, and a mystery reward gets an Open button.
  • Shared Chat on stream cards. Cards show when a channel shares its chat with other channels, with their faces.
  • Better emote suggestions. Typing part of a name suggests emotes from every set you can use in that chat, 7TV, BetterTTV and FrankerFaceZ included, along with chatters' names.
  • Share your log file. Support can save the log to Downloads or share it to Discord or anywhere else.
  • A new dock. The tab bar is clear glass with white icons, and the selected tab lights up in your theme's colour.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Tablets can hide chat. On a tablet in landscape, the chat button now hides chat and plays the stream full screen, the same as on a phone.
  • Your badge collection counts correctly. Rewards no longer says 0 collected when Drops isn't connected, and Newest, Oldest, Available and Coming soon sort by the real dates.
  • Badges in chat sit in Twitch's order: role first, then subscription, then what someone earned in the channel, then global badges.
  • 7TV sign-in works again, and it stays signed in.
  • Hiding someone clears what they already sent, not only their next messages.
  • Sub notices show Twitch's gift art.

🔧 Maintenance

  • Your sign-ins are encrypted. Saved sign-ins are sealed with a key kept in Android's keystore. They move over the first time you open this version.
  • New installs start with Twitch's own chat size, 14 px text with tighter spacing.

🎉 New: level with twitch.tv

Streams now play about as close to live as the Twitch site. Low latency is on
by default, and the gap behind live picks itself.

✨ Features

  • Low latency is on by default. Channels that support it play from the low-latency engine unless you turn it off, and turning it off sticks.
  • Auto gap. The distance behind live is set to Auto and chosen per channel. Move the slider in Player settings to pick your own; the Auto button puts it back.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Behind live is measured the way you hear it. The old figure used a one-second correction that pointed the wrong way, so the player sat about a second behind the site while reporting it was on par. It now counts the real delay of Twitch's low-latency edge.
  • Catching up finishes the job. When a stream falls behind, the player speeds up slightly until it is back at your gap, instead of stopping short and staying a little behind.

🎉 New: Kick on your phone

Watch Kick streams, chat in Kick rooms, and see the Kick channels you follow
beside your Twitch ones. Sign in once from the You tab and StreamNook brings in
your follows and lets you type in Kick chat.

✨ Features

  • Watch Kick. Browse has a Twitch / Kick switch with Kick's live directory, search and categories. Tap a channel and it plays like any other stream, with its chat underneath.
  • Kick chat. Kick rooms show Kick's level and subscriber badges and its emotes, along with 7TV paints, badges and emotes. Sign in to type. Until you do, the chat box offers the sign-in instead.
  • Your Kick follows in Following. Live Kick channels you follow sit in the list by audience size. A Twitch / Kick filter at the top shows one platform, and tapping it again shows everything.
  • Open any Kick chat. Add a chat searches Twitch and Kick together, puts live channels first, and opens a pasted kick.com link straight away.
  • Accounts on the You tab. Your Twitch and Kick accounts each get a row with their picture, a status line and their own sign-in or sign-out. Signing out of Kick leaves Twitch signed in.
  • Your badge and paint at the top of the You tab. Your profile now shows the Twitch badge you display and, beside your name, the name of your 7TV paint drawn in the paint.

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Sheets stay above the keyboard. Typing in Add a chat, chat commands or the notification channel picker used to hide the field and its results behind the keyboard. The last row of every sheet also clears the gesture bar now.
  • A Kick stream keeps its own numbers. Viewer counts, live alerts, drops, hype trains, polls and predictions only run for Twitch streams, so a Kick channel no longer shows figures from a Twitch channel with the same name.

Floating chat in landscape shows only the room: pinned messages, drop progress, hype trains, polls and predictions stay out of it. The resize handle is quieter, and the see-through strip shows itself for a moment whenever the floating chat opens, so you know where it lives.
Floating chat in landscape is now read-only, and you shape it in place. Drag the handle on its edge to make it wider or narrower. Tap that handle for a slider that sets how much video shows through, and a button to hide chat. The composer is gone from the floating column: it is for reading over the video, and typing still lives in the full chat.
Drops sign-in works again. Connect drops was failing for everyone with "invalid client" because Twitch closed the sign-in path the phone was using. The app now signs in the way the desktop does, through the Twitch page that already knows you. If you have approved StreamNook before, it connects without a prompt.

Signing in no longer strands you on the Twitch home page. If Twitch sent you to its home page after logging in instead of back to the code page, the sign-in window now returns you to the code page on its own.

Chat floats over the video in landscape. Turn the phone sideways and tap the chat button on the player: chat now sits over the picture instead of squeezing the video into a strip. Choose how see-through it is, how wide, and which side under Settings > Chat > Chat on your phone. Prefer the old split? "Beside the video" is still there.

Swipe to change brightness and volume. In landscape, drag up or down on the left half of the video for brightness and on the right half for volume. A small readout shows where you are. Brightness goes back to your normal setting when you stop watching.

See what someone has said. Tap a name in chat and their profile now lists their recent messages from this session, updating live while it is open.

A buzz when you are mentioned. Your phone vibrates once when a message says your name. Turn it off under Settings > Chat > Chat on your phone.

Open the app on your tab. Pick Following, Browse, Rewards or You as the start tab from the You screen. Back returns you there too.

Landscape chat can be dismissed again. On most phones, turning sideways put chat in a column on the right with no way to hide it, because a phone on its side is wider than the point where the app switches to its tablet layout. A phone is now a phone whichever way you hold it: landscape is full-screen video, and the chat panel is behind the fullscreen button like before. Tablets and unfolded foldables keep the two-column layout.

Also new since 0.1.11:

Audio stops when you close a stream. Closing the floating window, closing the mini player, or swiping the app away could leave the sound running with nothing on screen to stop it. That is fixed, and the media card in your notifications now has a Stop button that ends the stream rather than pausing it.

Streams you land on show who you are watching. When a channel raids into another one, or you open a stream from a notification or a search, the new stream now arrives with the streamer's picture, partner mark, title, category, a live viewer count and real uptime, the same as opening it from Following.

Pull to refresh brings new preview images. Twitch swaps the picture behind the same address every few minutes, so a refreshed list used to show new titles over old frames.

The Badges tab keeps its place. It used to rebuild the whole wall every time you came back to it.

Scrolling back to the bottom of chat resumes it. You no longer have to press Resume after reading back.

Your 7TV connection renews itself. Sessions last 30 days and used to simply expire, which is why you kept being signed out.

A lighter watch. The app asks the screen for 60 Hz while a stream plays instead of drawing every frame at 90, stops needless reloads when you lock and unlock the phone, drops two effects that were recomputed on every chat message, and keeps at most 300 chat messages in memory.

A cleaner look. The tab bar, selected tabs and chat controls wear the same glass as the desktop app, the loading mark is sized for a phone, the help icons in Settings open their explanation on tap, and chat commands work from the phone with a browsable list behind the composer menu.

Pausing actually pauses now. Pausing a stream used to keep downloading it at full quality anyway, then throw the whole buffer away and start over about once a minute. It now stops fetching a couple of seconds after you pause and picks straight back up when you resume, so a paused stream costs you no data and no battery.

Less battery spent on things you cannot see. The channel list sitting behind the player kept animating its live dots and badges the whole time you were watching, underneath a full screen video. Those hold still now until you go back to them.

Your profile sits at the top of You. Your 7TV paint renders on your name, next to the badges you actually have equipped: your StreamNook badge, your active 7TV badge, and the ones from your profile loadout. Long names get their own sizing so nothing is cut off.

What's New is readable now. Each change is laid out on its own with an icon instead of arriving as one block of text, and the version you are running is called out at the top so you can tell at a glance whether you are up to date.
