Pi 1.4.0 compatibility

  • Pin all three Pi SDK development and peer dependencies to 1.4.0.
  • Update the lockfile and English/Chinese compatibility and installation documentation.
  • Keep the existing writing checks, tutoring, translation, and flashcard behavior; no runtime API changes were required.

Requirements and installation

  • Pi 1.4.0.
  • Node.js 22.19.0 or later.
pi install git:github.com/SunsetWan/pi-language-tutor@v0.1.1

The Git tag pins this installation. Existing settings and flashcards keep using the same files. This fork supports only Pi 1.4.0 for this release.

If npm reports that the glimpseui install script was blocked, the native flashcard window needs its build step. On macOS, run this from the installed extension directory (Xcode Command Line Tools required):

npm --prefix node_modules/glimpseui run build:macos

The standard installation and loader were verified in an isolated agent directory. This host blocks npm lifecycle scripts, so native window acceptance used an explicitly built Glimpse binary.

Verification

  • Typecheck, 149 tests across 5 files, formatting, and package checks pass.
  • Lint reports 0 errors and one pre-existing no-array-sort warning.
  • Offline extension loading and cache-cleared loading register all three commands, the translation shortcut, and the card renderer without errors or warnings.
  • Interactive acceptance with an offline faux provider covers settings, writing checks, tutoring, manual and automatic translation, context replay, and reload.
  • Native flashcard acceptance covers captured vocabulary, Again repeating a card, and Good persisting the next review date.
  • PR, main, and tag CI pass, including release-tag/manifest consistency checks.
  • A fresh Git installation of v0.1.1 resolves to 81e4e976b2180752124ffafbe79155f584b34720 and loads all three commands with no errors or warnings.

Scripted offline responses validate integration and UI behavior, not live model quality or provider cache billing.

First independent release

SunsetWan/pi-language-tutor now has an independently maintained main branch and release sequence. Version 0.1.0 starts this fork's releases. The upstream MIT license and copyright are retained.

Requirements and installation

  • Pi 1.3.0.
  • Node.js 22.19.0 or later.
pi install git:github.com/SunsetWan/pi-language-tutor@v0.1.0

If you use the upstream extension, run pi list and remove its source with pi remove <source> before installing this fork. For the upstream npm package, use pi remove npm:pi-language-tutor. Remove any manually created extension symlink as well. Existing settings and flashcards remain in the same files.

Changes

  • Support only Pi 1.3.0 and use its model registry, full-transcript context event, entry renderers, and agent settlement event.
  • Keep writing checks, native-language tutoring, FSRS flashcards, and manual or automatic bilingual translation.
  • Store settings and cards under Pi's configured agent directory.
  • Publish GitHub Releases for Git installation. The package is private and has no npm publish workflow.
  • Validate pull requests, main, and release tags in CI. Release tags must match both manifests.

Verification

  • Typecheck, 149 tests across 5 files, lint, format checks, and package checks passed.
  • Lint has no errors and one existing no-array-sort warning.
  • The pinned Git installation resolves to the release commit and loads the lang, translate, and flashcards commands with no extension errors.

What's Changed

  • refactor(lang): target Pi 1.3.0 and remove runtime adapters by @SunsetWan in #1
  • chore(pkg): establish independent fork releases by @SunsetWan in #2
  • chore(pkg): bump version to 0.1.0 by @SunsetWan in #3
