Model Types

Fusion adds three new model types: base, connecting, and composite. Each is explained in the respective pages linked below.

  • Base model type
    An extension of the vanilla model format, that adds properties to set emissiveness, shading, ambient occlusion, gui lighting, and more.
  • Connecting model type
    Allows specifying connection conditions for connecting textures in the model. Element faces can specify a connections key that is then resolved similar to how textures are resolved.
  • Composite model type
    A model type that combines multiple other models. Each combined model can have conditions and can be translated, scaled, and rotated.

How to use

Tip

If you are new to how models work, you can look at the models in the vanilla resources, and you can find a description of the vanilla model format on the Minecraft Wiki. To get a copy of the vanilla resources you can follow the steps on the Vanilla Resources page.

Fusion uses the same json models as vanilla. However, now the data in the file is determined by the model type. The model type should be specified under the type key. It is also important to specify "loader": "fusion:model" to ensure Fusion does not interfere with other mods.
A model file would then look as follows:

{
  "loader": "fusion:model",
  "type": "<model type>",
  <configuration>
}
