HushPinterest 0.0.13 has 33 patches for Pinterest 14.41.0. It's the first one built on Morphe patcher 2.0.0, so update Morphe Manager to 2.0.0 or newer before you patch. Older Manager builds can't open this bundle.

The new patch is GmsCore support, for phones that run microG-RE instead of Google Play services. It sends Pinterest's Google sign-in and push notifications through microG-RE. It isn't picked by default, so if you don't use microG-RE nothing changes for you.

Patch 14.41.0 with the same signing key you used before and install it over your current HushPinterest. Your settings stay as they are.

What's new

  • New GmsCore support patch, for phones that run microG-RE instead of Google Play services. Pinterest's Google sign-in and push notifications go through microG-RE, so Continue with Google opens microG-RE's sign-in. Before, it asked Play services and the account got turned down. It's left out of the default selection since without microG-RE those requests have nowhere to go. Pick it in Expert mode and Spoof signature for Google sign-in comes along with it. (#15)
  • The patches are now built on Morphe patcher 2.0.0, so you'll need Morphe Manager 2.0.0 or newer to apply them. Older Manager builds can't load the bundle.

Behind the scenes

  • A release can't go public until the whole app has been walked with that exact bundle on a release phone or an emulator. The publish stage now takes the walk's receipt as -Walk and stops before GitHub or the index if the walk wasn't a full pass, saw a Pinterest crash, ran on some other device, or patched with a different bundle.
  • A device lease another session happens to be reading no longer stops a run partway. The check waits a moment and tries again, and a lease that stays locked still stops it.
  • New scripts/walk-app.ps1 patches Pinterest from the release bundle and installs it on a leased phone or emulator. Then it opens the home feed, the patched screens and every Hush settings page, and writes the receipt publish asks for. Only a full walk with no Pinterest crash earns a PASS.

Install

  1. Install Morphe Manager 2.0.0 or newer.
  2. Add HushPinterest as a patch source: https://morphe.software/add-source?github=SysAdminDoc%2FHushPinterest
  3. Download Pinterest 14.41.0, version code 14418010. APKMirror has it as an arm64-v8a bundle (.apkm) for Android 12L or newer. Pick that file in Manager and it merges the parts before patching.
  4. Uninstall the stock Pinterest first, since Android won't put one over the other. Save anything you keep only on the phone before you do. Your boards and pins come back when you sign in.
  5. Sign in with your email and a Pinterest password. If you joined through Google or Facebook, tap Forgot your password? on Pinterest's login page to set one first. On a phone with microG-RE, pick GmsCore support when you patch and Continue with Google goes to microG-RE's sign-in instead.
  6. Right after your first patch, export Morphe Manager's signing key (Settings, then System, then Import & export, then Signing key) and keep it somewhere private. Updates only install over a Pinterest signed with that same key.

Already on HushPinterest? Update Manager, then skip steps 4 and 5. Patch 14.41.0 with the same key and install it over the one you have.

Reported issues

  • #15: GmsCore support is new in this release, for signing in with Google on a phone that has microG-RE instead of Play services.

Validation

All 241 patch tests and 1069 extension tests passed on this commit, none skipped. The bundle attached here was patched onto a real Pinterest 14.41.0 bundle from APKMirror with Morphe's desktop patcher, and all 33 patches applied without forcing. release-receipt-0.0.13.json records that result, the bundle's hash and what patching changed in the app's manifest.

Before release, this exact bundle patched a Pinterest that went on an Android emulator for a walk through the whole app: the home feed, a pin, notifications, searches for pins, boards and people, and all ten HushPinterest settings pages. Pinterest didn't crash once.

GmsCore support was tried on an emulator with microG-RE installed. Pinterest opened microG-RE's Google sign-in at launch, and Continue with Google went on to microG-RE's account screen. That emulator had no Google account added, so a full sign-in wasn't done there.
