🚀 RouterPilot v2.3.1

RouterPilot v2.3.1 is a maintenance and VPN management update, bringing more control over GL.iNet VPN connections alongside a number of reliability and state-handling improvements.

🔐 VPN Management

  • Added Connect / Disconnect controls for configured GL.iNet VPN client tunnels.
  • Added direct Tailscale Enable / Disable controls.
  • Added Allow LAN Access controls for Tailscale.
  • Added Allow WAN Access controls for Tailscale.
  • Improved VPN tunnel and profile discovery directly from the router.
  • Improved same-page state reconciliation after VPN configuration changes.
  • Configuration state and live VPN connection state are now tracked independently for more accurate reporting.

🛡️ Tailscale Improvements

  • Tailscale changes now update directly on the VPN page without requiring navigation away and back.
  • Improved preservation of Tailscale connection information during other VPN operations.
  • Fixed Tailscale connection statistics disappearing when connecting or disconnecting another VPN tunnel.
  • Improved handling of Tailscale configuration and runtime state during refreshes.

🔄 VPN Reliability

  • Fixed configured VPN tunnels disappearing when optional profile or runtime information could not be retrieved.
  • Improved VPN inventory loading so available tunnel information can be displayed independently of optional enrichment.
  • Improved handling of connection and disconnection transitions.
  • VPN disconnects now correctly transition through Disconnecting → Off.
  • Improved protection against stale VPN results overwriting newer connection state.
  • Improved recovery when optional VPN status information is temporarily unavailable.

🔎 Read-Only VPN Information

RouterPilot continues to expose additional VPN information where available, including details such as:

  • Kill switch state
  • Local access state
  • Masquerade state
  • VPN protocol and interface
  • Profile and group information
  • Runtime connection status

Settings without a sufficiently verified GL.iNet write interface remain read-only rather than risking unsupported router configuration changes.

⬆️ Upgrading

Existing RouterPilot users can install v2.3.1 over their current installation.

Your RouterPilot configuration and saved router profiles should be preserved during the upgrade.

🧩 Requirements

  • Windows 10/11 x64
  • Compatible GL.iNet router
  • SSH access for features requiring router-side information
  • AdGuard Home is optional

Available functionality can vary depending on the router model, firmware version and services enabled on the router.

🛡️ Safety First

RouterPilot only enables router configuration controls where the underlying GL.iNet interface has been sufficiently verified.

If RouterPilot cannot obtain authoritative information from the router, it reports the value as unavailable or unknown rather than inventing a result.

❤️ Thank You

A huge thank you to everyone testing RouterPilot, reporting issues and providing feedback — particularly the GL.iNet community testing RouterPilot against real hardware.

Your feedback is helping make RouterPilot better with every release.
