@TCDemo777 TCDemo777 released this 30 Aug 19:41

🧪 RouterPilot v2.2.0 RC1

This is a public release candidate for RouterPilot v2.2.0.

I'm looking for feedback from GL.iNet users across different routers, firmware
versions, VPN configurations and AdGuard Home setups before the final v2.2.0
release.

👥 Clients & Known Clients

• Improved device identification using router, DHCP and mDNS information
• Improved manufacturer identification
• Better handling of private/randomised MAC addresses
• Improved Known Clients integration
• Added client filtering options
• Improved visible/total client counts
• Improved online/offline client handling
• Improved per-client DNS attribution

Please report any devices that are incorrectly identified or remain
"Unknown device" when you believe RouterPilot should be able to identify them.

🔐 VPN + AdGuard Home testers wanted

I'm particularly interested in users running policy-based VPN routing together
with AdGuard Home.

RouterPilot obtains normal client identity independently of AdGuard Home.

Per-client DNS statistics, however, depend on the client's DNS traffic being
visible to AdGuard Home.

If your VPN policy, direct encrypted DNS, or another DNS path bypasses AdGuard,
RouterPilot may correctly show DNS statistics as unavailable.

When reporting this, please include:

• Router model
• GL.iNet firmware version
• VPN protocol/type
• Whether policy-based VPN routing is enabled
• Whether AdGuard Home is enabled
• Whether AdGuard is configured to handle client DNS requests
• Whether RouterPilot shows the client normally
• Whether RouterPilot shows per-client DNS statistics

🌐 Tailscale

RouterPilot can now display read-only Tailscale information from supported
GL.iNet routers.

Please test:

• Connection status
• Device name
• Tailscale IP
• DNS name
• Version
• Peer information
• Refresh behaviour

🌡️ Router Health

RouterPilot now includes router temperature information in System Health.

Flint 2 / GL-MT6000 users are particularly welcome to verify that the
temperature agrees with the existing System Details reading.

🧪 What else to test

Please report:

• Crashes or errors
• Incorrect or duplicate clients
• Refresh problems
• Search/filter problems
• Multi-router switching problems
• VPN regressions
• AdGuard/DNS regressions
• Installation or upgrade problems

If possible, please test upgrading from RouterPilot v2.1.1 as well as a clean
installation.

🔒 Privacy

Please do not post router passwords, SSH credentials, AdGuard credentials,
Tailscale keys, or full DNS histories in bug reports.

MAC addresses can be partially redacted when reporting device-identification
problems.

RouterPilot v2.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@TCDemo777 TCDemo777 released this 29 Aug 21:19

🔀 RouterPilot v2.1.0

RouterPilot v2.1.0 is a major stability and usability update for users managing one or more GL.iNet routers with RouterPilot.

This release improves multi-router switching and profile isolation, expands SSH connection options, refines AdGuard Home integration, and brings a more consistent interface across RouterPilot.

🔀 Multi-Router Improvements

RouterPilot now handles switching between saved routers more reliably.

  • Improved switching between multiple saved router profiles.
  • Improved A → B → A router switching without requiring Save or Refresh.
  • Reconnecting to the currently selected router now correctly starts a fresh router session.
  • Router-specific state is cleared and reloaded when changing profiles.
  • Results belonging to a previous router session are prevented from updating the newly selected router.
  • Improved Saved Routers and Settings behaviour when changing profiles.
  • Improved active-profile restoration and compatibility with existing saved profiles.
  • Invalid or unavailable profiles no longer leave the previous router incorrectly shown as connected.

These changes provide stronger separation between routers and reduce the possibility of stale information from one router appearing after switching to another.

🔐 Router Profiles & SSH

Router profiles now provide more flexible SSH connection options.

  • Added configurable SSH ports for individual router profiles.
  • Added per-router SSH authentication methods.
  • Added support for password authentication.
  • Added support for private-key authentication.
  • Added support for private-key passphrases where required.
  • SSH credentials and configuration remain isolated between router profiles.

This allows RouterPilot to manage routers using different SSH ports and authentication methods without requiring the same connection configuration for every router.

🛡️ AdGuard Home

Several AdGuard Home views and configuration details have been refined.

  • Tidied the Configuration Details layout.
  • Corrected Query Log retention unit handling.
  • Enabled Protection Blocklists are now displayed before disabled blocklists.
  • Improved Protection Blocklists search presentation.
  • Improved Protection Blocked Services search presentation.
  • Improved Safe Search Services alignment.

AdGuard Home remains optional and existing configurations continue to be supported.

🔎 Search & Interface Improvements

Search and navigation controls have been made more consistent across RouterPilot.

  • Improved search presentation across Clients, DNS Activity, Global Search, Logs, Protection Blocklists, Protection Blocked Services, and related views.
  • Standardised search sizing and alignment.
  • Improved use of the Search placeholder and magnifying-glass search indicator.
  • Improved general spacing and alignment across affected views.

The Notification Centre has also been refined so its filter dropdown, Mark All Read, and Clear All controls use more consistent sizing.

⚙️ Reliability Improvements

A number of underlying reliability improvements have been made alongside the multi-router work.

  • Improved protection against stale DHCP results after changing router sessions.
  • Improved notification state handling when switching between routers.
  • Improved reconnect behaviour.
  • Improved cleanup of Saved Routers event subscriptions when windows are closed.
  • Improved separation of router-specific state between active sessions.
  • General stability and UI polish.

⬆️ Upgrading

RouterPilot v2.0.3

Choose a tag to compare

@TCDemo777 TCDemo777 released this 29 Aug 13:16

🩺 RouterPilot v2.0.3

RouterPilot v2.0.3 is a focused bug-fix and reliability release improving Network Health accuracy, firmware status, navigation, optional AdGuard Home monitoring, and state-change logging.

This release focuses on making RouterPilot's health reporting more accurate and ensuring normal startup or optional-service states aren't incorrectly reported as problems.

🩺 Network Health

  • Fixed inconsistent Network Health status between the Dashboard and Network → Health.
  • Improved health-state initialization and propagation to prevent stale or conflicting results.
  • Fixed a startup recursion issue that could cause RouterPilot to terminate with a System.StackOverflowException.
  • Clicking the Dashboard Network Health status now takes you directly to Network → Health.
  • Removed redundant Network Health navigation where the health status itself already provides direct access.

📡 Firmware Health

  • Fixed Firmware Health remaining indefinitely on Checking....
  • Firmware Health now follows RouterPilot's authoritative GL.iNet firmware state.
  • The Firmware View action now opens Maintenance → Firmware directly.
  • Fixed false Router firmware changed log entries caused by comparing GL.iNet firmware information with separate LuCI/OpenWrt release information.
  • Initial firmware discovery at startup is no longer incorrectly treated as a firmware change.

🛡️ AdGuard Home & Router Health

AdGuard Home remains completely optional.

  • Added an explicit setting to control whether AdGuard Home contributes to Router Health.
  • Users who don't run AdGuard Home can exclude it from the overall health calculation.
  • When excluded, AdGuard Home no longer reduces the Router Health percentage or causes Needs Attention.
  • When enabled, genuine AdGuard Home availability problems can still contribute to Router Health.
  • The preference is persisted between sessions.
  • Improved health descriptions to better distinguish an intentionally unused service from a genuine availability problem.

This means a router that is otherwise healthy can report 100% Healthy without requiring AdGuard Home to be running.

🌐 Network & Activity Logging

Several misleading activity-log events have been corrected.

  • Fixed the misleading data refresh delayed network warning during normal transient or optional-service conditions.
  • Fixed false Public IP changed events being generated during application startup.
  • VPN being inactive no longer causes RouterPilot to incorrectly report that the public IP changed.
  • VPN state transitions no longer masquerade as Public IP changes when the actual IP remains the same.
  • Initial discovery of the current Public IP is treated as startup initialization rather than an IP-change event.
  • Genuine Public IP changes continue to be reported normally.

⚙️ Reliability Improvements

  • Improved separation between initialization state and genuine state changes.
  • Change notifications now more accurately compare established values rather than treating initial data discovery as a change.
  • Existing router communication behaviour is preserved without introducing additional polling.

🙏 Thanks

A special thank you to Lastimosa for highlighting the Network Health issue and the misleading data refresh delayed log entry addressed in this release.

Community feedback continues to help make RouterPilot more reliable across different router configurations.

  • Updated SSH.NET from 2025.1.0 to 2026.0.0.
  • Addresses upstream security advisories affecting older SSH.NET releases.
  • RouterPilot's SSH functionality was reviewed against the updated library and required no compatibility changes.
  • RouterPilot uses SshClient and SshCommand for router communication.
  • RouterPilot does not use ScpClient, SftpClient, or recursive SCP downloads.

🖼️ System.Drawing.Common

  • Updated the resolved System.Drawing.Common dependency from 4.7.0 to the patched 4.7.2 release.
  • Resolves the Critical GHSA-rxg9-xrhp-64gj package advisory reported by NuGet.
  • The vulnerable 4.7.0 dependency was inherited through CommunityToolkit.WinUI.Notifications.
  • No RouterPilot source compatibility changes were required.

✅ Security Audit

Following the dependency updates:

  • ✅ SSH.NET security warnings are cleared.
  • System.Drawing.Common security warning is cleared.
  • ✅ No package downgrade or dependency conflicts were introduced.
  • ✅ RouterPilot builds successfully with the updated dependencies.
  • ✅ No known NuGet package security advisories remain.

This release is proactive dependency hardening. The security review did not establish that RouterPilot was directly exploitable through the addressed SSH.NET recursive SCP advisory.

🔄 Updating

Existing RouterPilot users can install the v2.0.2 MSI over their current installation.

Existing RouterPilot configuration and settings are preserved by the normal upgrade process.

Portable users can replace their existing application files with the contents of the new portable ZIP.

❤️ Thanks

Thanks to everyone using, testing and providing feedback on RouterPilot.

Keeping dependencies secure and releases dependable is just as important as adding new features, and v2.0.2 is focused specifically on that maintenance.

If you find a bug or have a suggestion for a future RouterPilot release, feedback is always welcome — thank you, Tristan.
