#CMS Solutions

We need an easy way to deploy minisites for any chapter member that wants to have their own website. this will initially include: Blog, Calendar, Forum, Chapter Projects, Issue Tracker/TODO, here is a schema defined by jesse grevenor.

the idea is to package this, in a way so that a user goes to the main site, login/joins, clicks on a button to create a chapter, this then goes out creates the minisite, gives admin permissions to the chapter administrator...

#proposed CMS solutions

at the present, we are considering OpenAtrium and other CMS systems, here is the list:

so which will be the CMS that will allow us to do what we need:

hardware - requirement

  • low spec hardware
  • easy to manage
  • easy to scale
  • secure
  • available
  • functionality - requirement

central login and session management

  • non platform specific or use of proprietary softaware.
  • l10n & i18n - out-of-the-box
  • pre-built modules ready to use. (issue tracker, forums, etc..)
  • ability to share information between domains.
  • always having a back-up of the data.
  • able to move the data from one host to another with minimum downtime.
