Download Monitor

Taiko2k edited this page Jan 15, 2020 · 17 revisions

The download monitor allows you to quickly import your downloaded music.

Its mainly intended to work with Bandcamp downloads, but can work with other types of downloads too. It currently works with:

  • Zip archives
  • RAR archives requires unrar
  • 7z archives requres p7zip (p7zip-full on Ubuntu)
  • Folders

Flatpak Note: For RAR and 7z functionality, in addition to installing required programs on host, you will need to give permission to access external programs: sudo flatpak override com.github.taiko2k.tauonmb --talk-name=org.freedesktop.Flatpak

Snap Note: RAR and 7z are already included with install.

Windows Note: Only folders and .zip archives are supported.

To Enable

  • Go to MENU > Settings > Function.
  • Check the box for Monitor download folders and its dependent function Extract archives on import.

To Use

  1. Download an archive containing music to your home downloads folder ~/Downloads.
  2. In the top panel, next to the MENU button, the download indicator should appear after a moment. Click the indicator when a number appears next to it. (This number shows how many archives are ready to import. It may take another moment for it to detect that a download has completed.)
  • The archive will be extracted and files imported to the current playlist.

Feature: If you have a playlist named Downloads, it will always be switched to and used instead.

Tip: If you want to dismiss the indicator, you can right click it and click Dismiss.

Note: Only items in the base download directory are monitored. Sub-folders are not monitored.

Note: Downloads older than an hour are ignored. Archives that do not mostly contain music are ignored.
